The 2011 Arkle Chase winner, an impressive winner of his last two starts, was a 14/1 chance to win steeplechasing's blue riband prize, but was found to be suffering with a suspensory ligament problem.
Meanwhile Tony McCoy will reportedly switch to ride Crabbie's Grand National favourite Triolo D'Alene in the same race, having previously committed himself to partner Teaforthree for Rebecca Curtis.
With stable jockey Barry Geraghty aboard Bobs Worth, Henderson had been on the look-out for a rider for his number two hope, who has been quietly supported in the betting for the race in recent days.
Paul Carberry and Andrew Tinkler were both believed to have been under consideration, but Henderson has opted to book the 18-times champion.
