Mount Athos has been declared a non-runner in the Boodles Diamond Ormonde Stakes due to the deteriorating ground conditions at Chester.
With the soft going considered too testing for last season's winner, owner Dr Marwan Koukash said the Marco Botti-trained seven-year-old will instead be rerouted to York for next Friday's Yorkshire Cup.
He tweeted: "Mount Athos will not run today and will be hoping for better ground next week at York to run in the Cup."
Mount Athos' main aim again this year will be the Emirates Melbourne Cup, in which he finished third behind Fiorente last November.
