Corey Nielson's men made light work of a potential tricky trip to Murrayfield and, with second-place Belfast Giants not in action on Sunday, Nottingham find themselves with some breathing space at the top.
Matt Francis struck a hat-trick, with Jonathan Weaver, David Ling and Matthew Myers also on the scoresheet.
Elsewhere, Josh Bruce scored his first league goal as Coventry Blaze wrapped up a four-point weekend with a 3-2 win over Cardiff Devils in south Wales.
The 23-year-old got the go-ahead goal at 4.30 before Chris Blight levelled at 6.23. Captain Shea Guthrie nudged Blaze back in front on the powerplay at 11.24 and Greg Leeb stretched their advantage, also on the powerplay, at 26.09.
Also celebrating a winning weekend were Hull Stingrays, who, thanks to a Shane Lovdahl double, overcame Fife Flyers 3-1 at Hull Arena.
The win moves Stingrays to within one point of a play-off place and top of the Rapid Solicitors Elite League Gardiner Conference.
The remaining game on Sunday night saw Dundee Stars shut-out Scottish rivals Braehead Clan 3-0.
