The Panthers made a fast start in the Midlands with David Clarke opening the scoring in the first minute with Matt Francis' power-play goal tdoubling their advantage.
Ryan Ginand pulled one back for the Blaze, but Nottingham restored their two-goal cushion courtesy of Eric Werner's first of the season.
Francis' second of the game in the second put the Panthers three ahead, although Kevin Harvey's 12th of the campaign kept the Blaze within touching distance.
Brandon Benedict scored Nottingham's fifth of the night and while Ginand bagged his second of the game it could not prevent the Blaze slipping to a 5-3 defeat.
Elsewhere, Thomas Horna helped himself to a hat-trick as the Captials got the better of the Flyers 4-3 in an all-Scottish affair.
Bobby Chaumont's goal in the first separated the sides before a flurry of goals arrived in the second period.
The score was level at three apiece going into the third period with Horna's power-play strike eventually deciding the destination of the points.
