Jussi Jokinen claimed an overtime winner as the Pittsburgh Penguins claimed a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
Jokinen hit the lone goal in the shoot-out after Brandon Sutter had scored twice in regulation, with Ryan O'Reilly and Patrick Bordeleau on target for the Avalanche.
Western Conference Pacific Division leaders, the Anaheim Ducks suffered a 4-2 defeat to the Edmonton Oilers.
Taylor Hall, David Perron, Justin Schultz and Jordan Eberle scored for the Oilers, after Jakob Silfverberg struck early on for Anaheim, with Corey Perry on target with their second.
Jeremy Morin scored for the second-straight game as the Chicago Blackhawks claimed a 4-2 victory over the St Louis Blues.
Patrick Sharp, Marcus Kruger and Ben Smith were also on target as the Blackhawks who recorded their second-successive win, while Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Sobotka scored for the Western Conference Central Division leaders.
A brace from Brayden Schenn helped the Philadelphia Flyers to a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres, with Matt Read, Vincent Lecavalier and Zac Rinaldo also on target for the Flyers.
Cody Hodgson had a goal and an assist for the Sabres and Mike Weber scored their other goal as they lost their third-straight game.
The Dallas Stars blew a two-goal lead to go down 3-2 at the Florida Panthers, while the Columbus Blue Jackets saw off the New York Islanders with a comfortable 4-0 victory.
