With the Aviva Premiership sides hit hard by World Cup call-ups, a number of young players will be given the chance to shine during the opening weeks of the season.

Skysports.com looks at 10 of the rising stars who could emerge to take the Premiership by storm.

Christian Wade (London Wasps)

Having underlined his scoring prowess for the England Under-20s, the Wasps back will be gunning for the chance to impress on the domestic stage. He has already caught the eye at the back end of last season, carrying his form into the pre-season friendlies under the guidance of new director of rugby David Young.

George Ford (Leicester)

Arguably has the best opportunity to shine during the World Cup period, with first-choice No.10 Toby Flood away with England. Ford, the son of England's defence coach, is a precocious talent and at just 18 has the world at his feet. He might be diminutive in size, but he has an enormous amount of talent.

Matt Kvesic (Worcester)

The dynamic back row will have benefited from honing his skills in the Championship as he looks to make his mark in the top-flight. A menace at the breakdown, Kvesic also knows his way to the try-line. Despite just being 19, he is already a leader with his form on the pitch.

Henry Thomas (Sale)

At just 19, Thomas heads into the new campaign with a spring in his step after an impressive Junior World Championships. Thomas faces some serious competition for a place in the front row but his work-rate across the field and ability at the breakdown means he adds so much value to the side.

Joe Launchbury (London Wasps)

The lock was the star of the Junior World Championships after a series of impressive displays as England reached the final. The 20-year-old has already made his Wasps debut and he has been dubbed the future of the club, although there is plenty of competition for places.

Jamie George (Saracens)

The signing of John Smit by Saracens has raised a few eyebrows considering the form of Schalk Brits and his understudy George. The England Under-20s captain proved himself as a valuable understudy despite his age and he looks to have all the makings of a future full international.

Ben Ransom (Saracens)

Another who underlined his potential at the JWC in Italy. Ransom is one of a number of talented young English backs at Vicarage Road and has the ability to slot in on the wing or at fly-half. He is a classy runner with ball in hand and has bags of pace.

Sam Farmer (Northampton)

The 19-year-old has a real chance to establish himself in the Saints first-team, having worked his way through the academy and the Wanderers side. Farmer can play across the back-row and has already gained valuable experience with the first XV and in the sevens set-up.

Guy Armitage (London Irish)

The latest of the Armitage clan to represent the Exiles, the young centre has some big shoes to fill in the absence of internationals Shontayne Hape and Joe Ansbro. Armitage made his debut in November 2010 and will be looking to add to those appearances.

Sam Twomey (Harlequins)

Having impressed on loan for Ealing, the England Under-20s lock is set to take the next step up. Twomey, a powerful runner with the ball in hand, has already represented the Quins A team and will be pushing hard for a full call-up.
