Skysports.com delivers its top ten sporting moments from 2010 that will live long in the memory.

1 TWEDDLE TAKES CROWN

Beth Tweddle reclaimed her world title on the uneven bars in Rotterdam after a thrilling climax to the competition in which Chinese rivals He Kexin and Huang Qiushuang both fell on their final routines. Tweddle, having qualified in third, produced a nerveless performance to win back the crown she first won in 2006.

2 ENGLAND PENALTY WOE

Amid the general chaos of the Delhi Commonwealth Games came a reminder of sport's ability to engage across the world, in the form of an enthralling men's hockey semi-final between England and India, won by the hosts on penalties and sparking scenes of wild jubilation.

3 WILLIAMS SLIDES TO GLORY

Amy Williams came from nowhere to win Great Britain's first individual Winter Olympic gold medal in 30 years in Vancouver. The Bath athlete produced four fearless slides down the world's most controversial course to obliterate her rivals and take gold in the women's skeleton competition.

3 ASHTON'S AWESOME TRY

Chris Ashton's stunning try in England's win over Australia at Twickenham was immediately hailed as one of the greatest of all time. Ashton picked up the ball from team-mate Courtney Lawes and sprinted a full 90 metres, evading the desperate dive of Australia's Drew Mitchell to seal his stunning score.

5 McDOWELL'S BRILLIANT BIRDIE

Europe may have wrapped up the Ryder Cup when Hunter Mahan conceded defeat on the 17th green, but the moment that shone out of a nerve-racking climax was Graeme McDowell's extraordinary birdie on the 16th hole which effectively sealed the win for Colin Montgomerie's men.

6 INIESTA'S GOLDEN MOMENT

Most neutrals had been won over to the Spanish cause long before Andres Iniesta struck his extra-time winner in the World Cup final. Holland's rough tactics made the showpiece game a tough spectacle until Iniesta drilled home past Maarten Stekelenburg to ensure justice was done.

7 MURRAY'S NEAR MISS

It will come as no consolation to Andy Murray that one of the finest performances of his career ended in defeat. Murray slipped to an agonising final set tie-break loss to Rafael Nadal in the ATP World Tour finals in London after a classic encounter in front of 17,500 fans inside the O2 Arena.

8 PIETERSEN'S DOUBLE TON

After all the trials and tribulations which have threatened to derail Kevin Pietersen's international career came a moment to to admire his talent as his bullish 227 swept England to victory in the second Ashes test in Adelaide. Pietersen's delight at reaching his double-century was plain to see.

9 PACQUIAO SEALS GREATNESS

Floyd Mayweather can keep avoiding Manny Pacquiao all he wants but the Filipino keeps proving himself the best in business. Pacquiao produced a brutal performance to defeat the much bigger Antonio Margarito in November and win a world title in an unprecedented eighth weight class.

10 McCOY'S NATIONAL PRIDE

After riding more than 3,000 career winners and making jump racing's champion jockey title his own for more than a decade, Tony McCoy finally won the race he really wanted - the Grand National - at the 15th attempt when he steered 10-1 joint-favourite Don't Push It to victory.
