Amir Khan believes a fight with Dagenham's Kevin Mitchell could be made in the future if he gets past Khan's former rival Breidis Prescott.

The Colombian returns to these shores to take on Mitchell on the same bill as Khan's WBA light-welterweight defence against Dimitriy Salita, 15 months after stunning Khan with a first round knockout.

However, Khan has always insisted he would gain revenge over Prescott if he ever got the chance, and believes countryman Mitchell will get the job done on Saturday night and move a step nearer a title shot.

"I think it's a brilliant fight for Kevin," said Khan. "I think Kevin can take him by not making the same mistakes I did. If he stays very composed with a tight guard and keeps his head moving, I think he can beat Prescott.

"Kevin has a good defence and I think Prescott is a one- or two-round fighter. After two rounds his power and speed drops dramatically. The advice I'd give to Kevin is to watch my fight and learn from the mistakes I made.

"I've not spoken to Kevin, but I'd like to have a little chat before the fight. I think I will probably speak to him at the press conference.

"I wish him all the best and really think he'll take him."

Khan added that a big domestic fight against Mitchell would appeal to the public, although bigger and better things probably await the Lancastrian assuming he overcomes Salita.

"There are so many fights for me out there, some big names in America and also in England," he added.

"But it's a fight the British public would probably like to see. Whatever fight is going to make me money and sell pay-per-views and the interest in it is huge then I'm going to take it. I've achieved my world title and now I want to hold onto it and fight the best out there.

"It's a fight that could be made, I'm not going to say no to it. We are both young, hungry fighters and I think it would be exciting."
