Quinlan: Sidelined
Alan Quinlan is to appeal the 12-week ban which has ruled him out of this summer's British and Irish Lions tour.
The Munster forward was found guilty of making contact with the eye area of Leinster skipper Leo Cullen during their Heineken Cup semi-final defeat on May 2.
The Ireland international will be suspended until early September as things stand, meaning he misses the Lions tour of South Africa.
Lions coach Ian McGeechan has already identified a potential replacement - believed to be Leicester and England flanker Tom Croft - but Quinlan is now bidding to overturn the findings of the independent disciplinary committee.
The hearing will take place in Glasgow on Wednesday, with the Lions squad set to leave for Johannesburg on Sunday.
Their opening game is against a Royal XV in Rustenburg on May 30 and McGeechan will want the squad firmed up well before then.
Miles Harrison says the Lions want to show their style of rugby can lead to victory and not just gallant defeats.
Despite losing the series, Stuart Barnes believes that the Lions have enhanced their reputation.
