Monye: Focused
Ugo Monye is looking to use the British and Irish Lions' warm-up games to prove himself a worthy starter for the Tests series with South Africa.
The powerful Harlequins winger, who scored his first try for England against Scotland in this year's RBS Six Nations tournament, is one of only three England backs to have made the grade for the tour.
Having secured his place on the plane with some high quality performances on both the domestic and international stage, Monye is now keen to prove himself a star with the Lions, starting with Saturday's tour opener against Royal XV.
"Every single man that's here wouldn't be here unless they thought they were a Test player," Monye told Sky Sports News.
"But there's a lot of games to be played before then and I'm hoping to take the chance in the games I get picked in.
"Hopefully when I get the chance I will take it."
Wales back James Hook has also been selected by virtue of his versatility, as a replacement for his injured international team-mate Leigh Halfpenny.
And the Ospreys ace, who can play at fly-half, centre and full-back, is keen to prove the quality and adaptability in his game.
"I'm covering a few positions so I'm just going to go out there and do the best I can in training," Hook said. "I just need to try and impress really."
Miles Harrison says the Lions want to show their style of rugby can lead to victory and not just gallant defeats.
Despite losing the series, Stuart Barnes believes that the Lions have enhanced their reputation.
