The Hobart Hurricanes chased down a record score of 210 to claim a dramatic three-wicket victory over the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League on Saturday.
The Heat batted first on home soil and laid down the gauntlet by scoring a blistering 209-3 from their twenty overs at the Gabba.
Opener Luke Pomersbach (4) departed without really troubling the scoring, but that brought Joe Burns to the crease.
Craig Kieswetter and Burns took the score to 82 before another wicket fell. It was Englishman Kieswetter who departed after reaching his half century from just 24 balls.
Burns eventually fell for 69, but their innings was anchored by Daniel Christian who top scored with 70 not out from just 40 deliveries.
The Hurricanes made a fast start in their reply, although the quick-fire departures of Ben Dunk and Travis Dirt hindered their hopes.
Dirt was first to go following with 27 runs from 20 deliveries, although it was Dunk who stole the show with a blistering 67 from 33, a knock that included four sixes.
Dunk was somewhat controversially dismissed by Ben Cutting caught behind by Kieswetter even though the bowler failed to appeal.
Jonathan Wells provided some late fireworks for the Hurricanes with an inventive 36 from 20 keep things over, although it was Ben Hilfenhaus who scored the winning runs.
Hilfenhaus had a bit of a shocker with ball in hand, but he hit a four and a six from his two deliveries to give Horbart an incredible success.
