Herschelle Gibbs contributed a half-century as Cape Cobras opened their Champions League Twenty20 campaign with a seven-wicket win over New South Wales.
Gibbs (55) and opening partner Richard Levi (43) put on 88 in 9.3 overs to break the back of the run chase.
The South Africans did suffer a wobble, losing three quick wickets before JP Duminy (14no) and Justin Ontong (11no) sealed victory from the second delivery of the 18th over.
New South Wales had earlier been restricted to 135-8 after opting to bat first at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
David Warner (20), Shane Watson (34) and Daniel Smith (24) laid a solid platform and the Blues were going well at 82-2 after 10 overs.
But they faltered badly in the second half of the innings as Vernon Philander (2-21) and Justin Kemp (1-18) applied the squeeze.
