NatWest Pro40 - Division Two
Warwickshire Bears 229-5 (T R Ambrose 111 no, D L Maddy 64) v Derbyshire Phantoms 200 (W W Hinds 84, I D K Salisbury 4-28)
Warwickshire beat Derbyshire by 29 runs
Warwickshire Bears signed off their Pro40 Division Two campaign with a 29-run victory at the Derbyshire Phantoms.
England wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose stroked an unbeaten century to lead the Bears to a total of 229-5 after they had been asked to bat.
Ambrose, batting at number five, shared a 179-run, fourth-wicket stand in 29 overs with his captain Darren Maddy to revive the innings from the depth of 42-3.
Maddy eventually departed for 64 but Ambrose could not be moved, finishing with 111 from 107 balls, including 10 fours and a six.
Former Derbyshire skipper Rikki Clarke made a brief cameo for his new club Warwickshire - he was booed on his return to the county he left less than two weeks ago and was caught off the last ball of the innings for two on the long-on boundary.
Veteran leg-spinner Iain Salisbury scalped 4-28 as Derbyshire slumped to 200 all out in 36.3 overs, despite Wavell Hinds' defiant knock of 84.
The result brought an end to a disappointing Pro40 season for both sides - Warwickshire finished sixth and Derbyshire eighth in the nine-team league.
