Chris Whelan took 4-21 as Worcestershire Royals prevailed by 15 runs in a low-scoring Friends Life t20 match against Derbyshire Falcons.
Having opted to bat first, the Royals struggled to 121-7 with opening batsman Vikram Solanki's 28 the top score.
Tom Knight, a 17-year-old left-arm spinner, was the pick of the Derbyshire attack with figures of 3-16.
The hosts struggled in reply, Martin Guptill (4) holing out in the second over to set the tone for a disappointing effort.
Chesney Hughes laboured to 22 off 31 balls and also ran out his captain Luke Sutton (2) before being one of Whelan's victims as the Falcons crashed to 79-8.
Number nine Steffan Jones crashed 24 off 22 balls to briefly raise hopes of a tight finish.
But there was too much to do and the run out of Jones in the final over saw Derbyshire bowled out for 106.
