England vs India
England win by an innings and 244 runs
Jordan finishes with 4-18 as India are bundled out for just 94 inside 30 overs. England win the series 3-1 and complete a fantastic turnaround after losing the second Test at Lord's
Ishant ct Ali bld Jordan 2
Jordan polishes off the innings with a nasty short ball which Ishant can only lob straight into Ali's hands
Over 29 - India 94-9 (Binny 25, Ishant 2)
Just a Woakes wide to Binny to report as England push for the last India wicket before the tea interval here on DAY THREE
Over 28 - India 93-9 (Binny 25, Ishant 2)
Binny treats the crowd to a rare piece of flamboyant Indian strokeplay with a sumptuous cover drive to the boundary. At 25 not out he is the top-scoring batsman in this atrocious innings
Over 27 - India 84-9 (Binny 18, Ishant 0)
What a day this has been for England! India have been trampled all over from start to finish and Jordan will now try and finish off the second innings inside 28 overs!
Aaron run out 1
India pressing the self-destruct button now. Aaron turns slowly coming back for the second run and Buttler does well to take Ali's throw and dislodge the bails with Aaron marginally short. England on the brink...
Over 26 - India 74-8 (Binny 13, Aaron 0)
India are sinking without a trace here. It's been a swing and seam bowling masterclass from England and India are spiralling towards a heavy innings defeat
Kumar ct Bell bld Jordan 4
Straight in this time. A regulation edge from Kumar and Bell catches comfortable in front of his eyes at second slip
Ashwin ct Bell bld Jordan 7
England closing in! Ashwin joins the procession when edging Jordan into the cordon, Ballance parries and Bell bails out his buddy by mopping up!
Over 25 - India 70-6 (Binny 13, Ashwin 7)
Woakes has been really impressive in this Test match and twice beats Binny on the outside edge after Ashwin had driven for three more down the ground
Over 24 - India 66-6 (Binny 12, Ashwin 4)
Kohli paid the penalty for not playing straight and England's catching in the slips has been exemplary. Ashwin makes a confident start to his innings, driving Jordan back down the ground for four to get up and running
Kohli ct Cook bld Jordan 20
Six down! Kohli's miserable tour comes to an end. Attempting to turn a straight ball to leg, he can only edge through to Cook, who makes no mistake at first slip
Over 23 - India 62-5 (Kohli 20, Binny 12)
Drop! Kohli laces a drive on the up back at Woakes, who can't cling in to the low chance on his follow-through. Tough, but he got his hands there and you've seen them taken... Binny then receives some luck when an inside edge narrowly evades leg stump and brings him two. A more assured end to the over, though, as Binny drives through the covers for four
Over 22 - India 55-5 (Kohli 19, Binny 6)
Jordan replaces Broad (1-22) and almost picks up the wicket of Kohli when he clips the ball high off his hip just short of Moeen, running in from fine leg. Just that single off Jordan's opening over and drinks are called
Over 21 - India 54-5 (Kohli 18, Binny 6)
Woakes is just too straight this over and Kohli works the final ball of the over to long leg for a single. A reminder that tea will be take at 4.40pm due to the rain break we had before, during and after lunch
Over 20 - India 53-5 (Kohli 17, Binny 6)
Binny likes to play his shots and drives Broad powerfully back past mid-off for an eye-catching boundary. India may as well go down swinging here, the position they find themselves in - still 285 runs behind - is about as bleak as it gets
Over 19 - India 47-5 (Kohli 16, Binny 1)
Binny is the new batsman after Dhoni trudges off for the last time in this series. A penny for his thoughts right now... Woakes has his tail up but Binny opens the face and gets off the mark with a single last ball of the over
Dhoni ct Robson bld Woakes 0
Dhoni gone for a duck! Trying to work Woakes to leg he can only inside edge on to his pad and it's a simple catch for Robson at short-leg
Over 18 - India 46-4 (Kohli 16, Dhoni 0)
Well, that really was a screamer from Ballance. He had to go for it because it wasn't going to carry to Bell at second slip. Rahane can't believe it but he has to go. Dhoni is in early again...
Rahane ct Ballance bld Broad 4
What a catch! Ballance takes a screamer at third slip, diving one handed low to his left and plucking the ball inches from the turf. Broad strikes!
Over 17 - India 43-3 (Kohli 16, Rahane 2)
Woakes replaces Kohli, who looks much more comfortable coming forward in this over. After picking out mid-off with a drilled drive, Kohli then flicks straight of mid-on to find the boundary. Kohli starting to look settled...
Over 16 - India 39-3 (Kohli 12, Rahane 2)
A productive over for the extras column as India accrue a leg-bye and then four byes when Broad fires a quick inswinger wide of the diving Buttler. Cook may well be pondering a change or two...
Over 15 - India 34-3 (Kohli 12, Rahane 2)
Edge! Anderson produces late swing to find Rahane's edge but the ball lands just short of Jordan at fourth slip. Rahane collects two runs in streaky fashion, the only runs off the over
Over 14 - India 32-3 (Kohli 12, Rahane 0)
Broad continues to pepper Kohli, who is living a charmed life out there. He nudges two runs just wide of short leg and is then beaten twice in a row pushing forward to end the over. A wry smile from Broad, who knows he is winning this battle at the moment
Over 13 - India 30-3 (Kohli 10, Rahane 0)
Anderson is now just four wickets away from surpassing Sir Ian Botham's Test record of 383 wickets. He has Rahane in his sights now but he produces a confident block first ball to see out another successful over
Pujara ct Buttler bld Anderson 11
Too good, just too good. A perfect Anderson away-swinger catches Pujara's edge and Buttler takes a simple catch
Over 12 - India 27-2 (Pujara 11, Kohli 7)
Pujara chops a rare short ball from Broad through backward point to find the fence. India showing a bit more fight since that much-needed break for rain
Over 11 - India 23-2 (Pujara 7, Kohli 7)
Close! Anderson nips one back through Kohli's bat and pad and quite how that missed both the stumps and the edge is anyone's guess! Maiden over
Over 10 - India 23-2 (Pujara 7, Kohli 7)
Broad is giving Kohli a thorough working over here. After surviving a strong lbw appeal courtesy of an in-swinger (impact umpire's call), Kohli is then beaten on the outside by one that leaves him off the pitch. The India No 4 regroups with two through mid-on and then nudges a single to cover
Over 9 - India 20-2 (Pujara 7, Kohli 4)
Anderson is searching for that perfect away-swinger to Pujara but is too straight and is picked off for two through midwicket and then four down to long leg. Not Jimmy's best, but he'll be back...
Over 8 - India 14-2 (Pujara 1, Kohli 4)
Broad is bang on the money first over back, beating both Pujara and Kohli with deliveries which just seam away from the right-handers. Pujara pinches a single to square-leg to get off the mark
Over 7 - India 13-2 (Pujara 0, Kohli 4)
Anderson finishes the over he started before the rain break and with five slips in place is very unlucky to see an edge from new man Kohli whistle wide of Root at fifth slip and away for four. Kohli's top score this series is 39, can he finish with a flourish?
After an inspection, the above has been scheduled
A wet outfield is slowing up proceedings at The Oval, but i'm pleased to report that the sun is shining and it shouldn't be too long before we get back underway
Well, a rather farcical end to the session puts England in total command with India 9-2 - still 329 runs behind. They need just eight more wickets to wrap up a 3-1 series win and who would bet against them doing so today?! We will take an early lunch due to this shower which has arrived at the Kia Oval. Stay tuned for more updates...
Gambhir run out 3
England strike just as the rain arrives! Woakes throws down the stumps after Gambhir was caught in the middle of the pitch and the players leave the field in celebration
Over 6 - India 8-1 (Gambhir 3, Pujara 0)
A couple more nervy moments for Gambhir, who at least gets off the dreaded pair with three runs down to fine-leg. First he gloves Broad just short of Buttler and then he survives a strong lbw appeal. Pitched well outside of leg stump
Over 5 - India 6-1 (Gambhir 0, Pujara 0)
A wicket-maiden from Anderson, who set Vijay up beautifully there. Pujara comes to the middle and will face a tricky period before lunch
Vijay lbw Anderson 2
Brilliant bowling from Anderson. Vijay was beaten by an away-swinger the ball before and Jimmy then fires in a viscous inswinger which traps the opener lbw!
Over 4 - India 6-0 (Vijay 2, Gambhir 0)
Broad has Gambhir hopping around and the left-hander cops a nasty blow in the midriff midway through the over. Broad, bowling at around 87mph with good rhythm, then beats Gambhir twice outside off stump and the out-of-form opener looks all at sea at the moment
Over 3 - India 6-0 (Vijay 2, Gambhir 0)
Vijay watches a probing maiden from Anderson sail by. He's almost done by an inswinger, though, the ball passing perilously close to the top of off stump
Over 2 - India 6-0 (Vijay 2, Gambhir 0)
A first boundary arrives when Broad strays onto Gambhir's pads and the ball diverts fine past Buttler via the left-hander's thigh pad. Broad comes back well and beats the India on the outside edge last ball. A little bit of nip for England's openers but nothing too alarming. It's all a question of how much fight India have left in them
Over 1 - India 1-0 (Vijay 1, Gambhir 0)
Anderson starts proceedings needing six wickets in this innings to surpass Sir Ian Botham as England's all-time leading wicket-taker. He starts with some gentle away-swingers to Vijay, who nudges a single behind point to get off the mark and then tests Gambhir, who is on a pair
England 486 all out
A quickfire 101 runs added in 11.3 overs this morning means England will take a 338-run lead into the second innings. Root leaves the field to a standing ovation unbeaten on 149 and England's bowlers will now get to work with India already looking ready to jump on the plane back home!
Anderson lbw Ashwin 1
England's innings finally ends when Ashwin pins Anderson lbw
Over 116 - England 483-9 (Root 146, Anderson 1)
Michael Holding, ever the gentleman, is questioning why England are putting Anderson at risk of this short-ball barrage with such a healthy lead already opened up. I'd tend to agree with him. Root back cuts Ishant for four more in an over costing six. The lead is 335 as drinks make their way out to the middle. 98 runs added in 11 overs this morning
Over 115 - England 477-9 (Root 141, Anderson 0)
Root is flying now. Three more boundaries off Ashwin, one reverse-swept, the next swept and the final one pulled. India are going through the motions here and England's lead is 329
Over 114 - England 463-9 (Root 127, Anderson 0)
That wicket brought an end to an over exclusively of short balls. Broad had managed to uppercut one over Dhoni's head for two before perishing. Anderson joins Root for some final fireworks
Broad ct Kohli bld Ishant 37
The short ball ploy eventually does for Broad, who gloves Ishant up to Kohli, who takes a simple catch at slip. Replays show Broad's hand was in fact off the bat when he gloved it, so he shouldn't have been given out. Fine knock nevertheless
Over 113 - England 461-8 (Root 127, Broad 35)
Root moves into one day mode with three fours off Aaron. The first brings up the 50 partnership off 31 balls. Two powerful cuts through backward point and one swat back down the ground take Root to 127* and moves England's lead up to 313. Andrew Strauss believes a declaration might not be far away...
Over 112 - England 449-8 (Root 115, Broad 35)
Six! Broad is fighting fire with fire here and hooks Ishant for six over backward square-leg! Cracking strike. A quick single then takes England's lead past 300. The fastest ever Test 50 is 24 balls, Broad has 35 off 15
Over 111 - England 440-8 (Root 111, Broad 28)
England have scored 55 runs in six overs this morning and Broad (28 off 12 balls) is playing a perfect hand. He knows the short ball is coming and rocks back and drills Aaron through midwicket for another boundary. Aaron kicks the turf at the end of the over after Root pinches a single to retain strike. England lead by 292
Over 110 - England 433-8 (Root 111, Broad 23)
Out, no! Root is bowled off bat and then pad but Ishant has overstepped! A second life for England's No 5! Ishant has been flirting with that front line all innings and after a quick check upstairs, replays show that he has breached it and Root is called back. Sums up India's recent woes. 10 runs off the over, too, with Root cutting for two, squirming a boundary through third man and Broad pulling hard for two through square-leg
Over 109 - England 423-8 (Root 104, Broad 21)
Broad bites back! 16 off the over, including three fours for England's bruised No 10. India's field is set for the short ball but Aaron isn't following the plan and sends three deliveries down in Broad's half outside off stump, all of which rocket to the boundary, one behind square, two in front. England's lead races on to 275 and India are looking beaten
Over 108 - England 407-8 (Root 103, Broad 6)
No prizes for guessing what length India will bowl at Broad, who is sporting a new helmet... He flicks his first ball off his hip for a single to get off the mark and then gives himself room and flays over gully for four - Aaron's foot just touching the rope when he hauled the ball in. Broad will play his shots here. England lead by 259
Jordan ct Dhoni bld Ishant 20
Ishant produces a snorter to find Jordan's edge through to Dhoni, one delivery after Root had reached his hundred
100 FOR ROOT!
He jumps and punches the air after whipping Ishant for three runs to bring up his fifth Test hundred off 135 balls - 10x4s 1x6. Great knock and what a series he is having!
Over 107 - England 397-7 (Root 99, Jordan 20)
Aaron starts alongside Ishant from the Vauxhall End and Root squirms a half-volley off the outside edge along the floor through gully for a boundary first ball to move to 97. He then exchanges singles with Jordan through the on-side and is one run away from three figures. All eyes on Root...
Over 106 - England 390-7 (Root 93, Jordan 19)
Root inches a run closer to his fifth Test century with a single off the first ball of the day. Ishant then sets his sights on Jordan with a barrage of short balls. The first of which evades Dhoni down the leg-side and results in four byes! Ironic cheers from the crowd who have arrived on time. The ground still filling up. England lead by 242
Good morning one and all, hope you are feeling fresh on this Sunday. Could it be the last day of the series? England will resume D3 on 385-7 shortly - a lead of 237 - with Joe Root unbeaten on 92
