England vs Sri Lanka
So the first Test at Lord's has ended in an incredibly dramatic draw. England had Sri Lanka nine down with five balls left but Nuwan Pradeep used a successful review to survive Broad's onslaught and hold on to keep the series locked at 0-0 ahead of the second Test at Headingley.
Over 90 - Sri Lanka 201/9 (Herath 1, Pradeep 0)
Nuwan Pradeep has to see out the last five balls. He ducks the first, the second flashes past his edge, the third is blocked well but the fourth clatters into his pads in front of the stumps and is given out! Lord's goes crazy but Pradeep reviews it and replays show he edged it onto his pads! Incredible, the decision is overturned and Pradeep survives the final ball! MATCH DRAWN! Sri Lanka have survived.
Wicket! Herath c Prior b Broad 1
Broad will bowl the last over of the day and gets Herath first ball as the left-hander gloves one which was directed at his rib cage and is caught behind by Prior!! Replays show Herath's hand was off the bat but he walked anyway!
Over 89 - Sri Lanka 201/8 (Herath 1, Eranga 0)
Eranga does well with the first three balls before dabbing dangerously just wide of short leg on the fourth delivery. He fends off the fifth ball as well and shows a straight bat to the sixth too. Sri Lanka crucially get through Anderson's final over with no further damage. Just six balls left now.
Over 88 - Sri Lanka 201/8 (Herath 1, Eranga 0)
Plunkett takes over from Broad but can't find a way to dislodge Herath. Just two overs left now but Anderson will get a shot at Eranga next.
Over 87 - Sri Lanka 201/8 (Herath 1, Eranga 0)
Shaminda Eranga is the next man in. The tail is well and truly exposed now.
Wicket! Mathews c Cook b Anderson 18
Mathews keeps blocking for the first four balls, prompting Cook and Anderson to have an impromptu meeting. He defends the next one as well but Anderson finds the edge with the last ball of the over and Cook takes the catch at first slip! Another twist in the tail as the Sri Lanka captain goes!
Over 85 - Sri Lanka 199/7 (Mathews 17, Herath 0)
Anderson continues and flashes two deliveries past the edge of Mathews. However, the end of the over sees Sri Lanka with three wickets still in hand.
Over 84 - Sri Lanka 199/7 (Mathews 17, Herath 0)
Rangana Herath is the new man in and he manages to survive the rest of Broad's over.
Wicket! Kulasekara lbw b Broad 1
Broad now gets a crack at Kulasekara and traps him on the pads right in front of the stumps! The ball was pitched up and beat the batsman all ends up. It was plumb in front and an easy decision for the umpire.
Over 83 - Sri Lanka 199/6 (Mathews 17, Kulasekara 1)
Anderson now comes back into the attack and has Kulasekara under pressure first ball with a packed slip cordon. His second ball swings a mile and beats the batsman but just misses the stumps. A dab through the leg side hands the strike to Mathews and the more accomplished batsman sees out the rest of the over.
Over 82 - Sri Lanka 198/6 (Mathews 17, Kulasekara 0)
Broad takes on the new ball but cannot quite get his line right and Mathews is able to defend and leave to see out a maiden over.
Over 81 - Sri Lanka 198/6 (Mathews 17, Kulasekara 0)
Jordan continues in the attack and bowls a couple of looseners before the new ball is taken. Kulasekara manages to see out the over and move Sri Lanka one step closer to clinching the draw.
Over 79 - Sri Lanka 194/6 (Mathews 13, Kulasekara 0)
Jayawardene fell on the last delivery of the over. Nuwan Kulasekara is the new batsman. 11 overs left.
Wicket! P Jayawardene lbw b Jordan 8
Jordan continues with some short stuff to Jayawardene before tossing up a full one which clatters into the pads of the batsman right in from of the stumps! Billy Bowden says no, presumably because of an inside edge, but the decision is reviewed and replays show the ball didn't hit the bat. Decision overturned and Jayawardene goes!
Over 77 - Sri Lanka 194/5 (Mathews 13, Jayawardene 8)
Jordan stays in the attack and sees Jayawardene flick one just short of Bell at leg slip. Another ball then flies off Jayawardene's bat through the leg side but does not find a fielder despite there being a multitude off them camped near the bat on that side of the wicket! England go close again but do not find the breakthrough.
Over 76 - Sri Lanka 194/5 (Mathews 13, P Jayawardene 8)
Plunkett continues after the break and concedes England's first runs in five overs as Jayawardene flicks one down the leg side and Mathews also takes a single. Jayawardene then plays an aggressive pull over midwicket for three more runs.
Over 75 - Sri Lanka 189/5 (Mathews 12, P Jayawardene 4)
Jordan bowls another maiden over, with Mathews' defensive efforts continuing to look more convincing than his partner out in the middle. Now it's time for drinks ahead of the final 15 overs, 10 of which will be bowled with the new ball.
Over 74 - Sri Lanka 189/5 (Mathews 12, P Jayawardene 4)
Plunkett shouts for lbw after swinging one into the pads of Jayawardene but it was clearly going down the leg side and also too high. He then goes back around the wicket and bounces yet another ball into a ducking Sri Lankan's body, this time finding the ribs of Jayawardene. Another maiden over.
Over 73 - Sri Lanka 189/5 (Mathews 12, P Jayawardene 4)
Another maiden over for England, this time from Jordan, includes a wayward full toss which Mathews calmly blocks back to the bowler.
Over 72 - Sri Lanka 189/5 (Mathews 12, P Jayawardene 4)
Plunkett goes close with a rare full delivery as Jayawrdene gets a cover drive all wrong and almost sends an inside edge crashing into the stumps. England are left to curse their luck again, though, as Sri Lanka get through another over unscathed.
Over 71 - Sri Lanka 189/5 (Mathews 12, P Jayawardene 4)
Jordan gets one to fizz back in to Mathews, the ball moving so much it missed even the inside edge on its way behind to Prior. The two batsmen grab a single each as they tick another over off the list.
Over 70 - Sri Lanka 187/5 (Mathew 11, P Jayawardene 3)
Plunkett continues to bang the ball in short as he goes both over the wicket and around the wicket. Just one run comes from the over as Mathews softly pulls him through the leg side.
Over 69 - Sri Lanka 186/5 (Mathews 10, P Jayawardene 3)
Jordan serves up some short stuff to Jayawardene, who continues to hang on out there and has now made three runs off 32 balls after another maiden over.
Over 68 - Sri Lanka 186/5 (Mathews 10, P Jayawardene 3)
Plunkett replaces Broad and straight away gets another one of his low-bouncing bouncers to crash into the body of Mathews, who was trying to duck out of the way, and away to the third man boundary for four leg byes. Mathews then mistimes a pull and almost chops onto his stumps but survives the over with his wicket intact.
Over 67 - Sri Lanka 182/5 (Mathews 10, P Kayawardene 3)
Anderson's spell ends and Jordan is brought back on to replace him. He finds Jayawardene's inside edge but luckily for Sri Lanka the ball bounces over the stumps after hitting the bat. Another inside edge later in the over also evades the stumps. Maiden over.
Over 66 - Sri Lanka 182/5 (Mathews 10, P Jayawardene 3)
Mathews drives Broad down the ground for a couple but then sees one nip back into his body off the surface. He blocks the rest of the deliveries well.
Over 65 - Sri Lanka 180/5 (Mathews 8, P Jayawardene 3)
Anderson bowls another maiden as Jayawardene continues to get his eye in. No major dramas in this over for the Sri Lanka batsman.
Over 64 - Sri Lanka 180/5 (Mathews 8, P Jayawardene 3)
Broad swings one into the pads of Jayawardene but the lbw shout comes to nothing as the ball was clearly going down the leg side. Sri Lanka take some of the sting out of the over when Jayawardene gets off the mark with three down the leg side and Mathews flicks a four through the same area.
Over 63 - Sri Lanka 173/5 (Mathews 4, P Jayawardene 0)
Anderson continues his spell with another maiden over, with Mathews not looking to fashion any scoring opportunities.
Over 62 - Sri Lanka 173/5 (Mathews 4, P Jayawardene 0)
Mathews flicks Broad through the leg side for three but the runs will not concern England at this time. Jayawardene comes on strike and leaves one that nips back and threatens to hit off stump. The pressure is still being piled on the tourists.
Over 61 - Sri Lanka 170/5 (Mathews 1, P Jayawardene 0)
Anderson ties Jayawardene in knots with a couple of short ones to start the over. He's getting plenty of movement now and clatters one into Jayawardene's pads only to see the huge appeal turned down by Billy Bowden. With two reviews left they of course send it upstairs, but Hawk Eye shows an umpire's call on the stumps and the batsman escapes, just!
Over 60 - Sri Lanka 170/5 (Mathews 1, P Jayawardene 0)
Broad is brought back into the attack after that double strike and serves up some full and straight deliveries to Mathews, who blocks out a maiden over.
Over 59 - Sri Lanka 170/5 (Mathews 1, P Jayawardene 0)
Could that be the over which changes the course of the match? Angelo Mathews and Prasanna Jayawardene are the two new batsmen at the crease.
Wicket! Thirimanne c Jordan b Anderson 2
Second wicket of the over for Anderson! Again it was just outside off on a good length but this time found the outside edge of the left-hander before carrying to Jordan in the slips. Game well and truly on!
Wicket! Sangakkara b Anderson 61
Sangakkara has gone! Anderson gets the left-hander to chop onto his stumps, what a huge wicket that is! It was pitched on a good length outside off stump but nipped in and possibly stayed a bit low, which was enough to deceive Sangakkara.
Over 57 - Sri Lanka 164/3 (Sangakkara 59, Thirimanne 0)
Bowling to a rather strange-looking off-side field, Anderson goes round the wicket to Sangakkara. With men covering just about every single opportunity on that side of the field, the left-hander is content to see out a maiden.
The players are back out on the pitch and we are ready to start the final session. England need some early inroads here...
And that is it for the afternoon session. The match is still alive after England took two crucial scalps but Sri Lanka have seven wickets in hand and will fancy their chances of seeing out a draw in the evening.
Over 55 - Sri Lanka 159/3 (Sangakkara 54, Thirimanne 0)
Lahiru Thirimanne is next in and has to fend off a brilliant yorker from Anderson first ball, with the second ball he faces hitting his outside edge and bouncing to gully. Shaky moments for Sri Lanka.
Wicket! M Jayawardene c Prior b Anderson 18
England get another wicket! Anderson gets one to come back in slightly to Jayawardene, finding a faint outside edge with Prior taking the catch behind the stumps.
Over 54 - Sri Lanka 158/2 (Sangakkara 53, M Jayawardene 18)
Broad comes back into the attack and enjoys some low bounce, but nothing comes of it as Sangakarra grabs a single and Jayawardene defends well.
Over 53 - Sri Lanka 157/2 (Sangakkara 52, M Jayawardene 18)
Anderson comes back into the attack for the first time since his opening spell and concedes four byes when Prior fluffs a take behind the stumps and the ball bounces away to the ropes. A single from Sangakkara completes the over.
Over 52 - Sri Lanka 152/2 (Sangakkara 51, M Jayawardene 18)
There is a half-hearted appeal as a short one from Plunkett, who is now bowling round the wicket, loops up off Jayawardene and into the gloves of Prior. It clearly came off the batsman's arm guard, however. Jayawardene then takes his turn to go after Plunkett, flicking a four down to the fine leg boundary and creaming a pull away for another boundary.
Over 51 - Sri Lanka 141/2 (Sangakkara 51, M Jayawardene 10)
Jordan continues his spell with another solid over as Jayawardene stays on the defensive to some full deliveries. It would have been a maiden but for one bye down the leg side right at the end of the over.
Over 50 - Sri Lanka 141/2 (Sangakkara 51, M Jayawardene 10)
Plunkett is pitching it up a little more to Jayawardene now and concedes two singles from his ninth over.
Over 49 - Sri Lanka 139/2 (Sangakkara 50, M Jayawardene 9)
Jordan bowls a maiden over, with Jayawardene not really troubled until he flicks one uppishly into the leg side on the final ball, but it evades the hands of the fielders.
Over 48 - Sri Lanka 139/2 (Sangakkara 50, M Jayawardene 9)
Plunkett continues his short-ball, round-the-wicket assault on Jayawardene but the batsman gets off strike before any damage is done. Sangakkara then tries a pull but it bobbles up in the air and over the head of Robson at short leg.
Over 47 - Sri Lanka 138/2 (Sangakkara 50, M Jayawardene 8)
Jayawardene runs another single at the start of Jordan's eighth over before Sangakkara cuts away the fourth ball for two to bring up his half-century. He can join a truly elite group if he goes on to score a century in both innings at Lord's, but the primary concern is saving this Test match.
Over 46 - Sri Lanka 135/2 (Sangakkara 48, Jayawardene 8)
Plunkett sticks with going round the wicket to Jayawardene and almost finds the edge when Jayawardene hangs his bat out at a short one (what other type of delivery could it be in this situation?) Jayawardene and Sangakkara run a single each before Bell makes a brilliant diving stop at leg slip to prevent a boundary with the last ball.
Over 45 - Sri Lanka 132/2 (Sangakkara 47, M Jayawardene 5)
Jordan continues after the drinks break and has his hands on his head after Jayawardene is forced to dig out a yorker which was heading for either the stumps or his pads. In the end, both batsmen run a single to make it two from the over.
Over 44 - Sri Lanka 130/2 (Sangakkara 46, M Jayawardene 4)
Sangakkara ends his scoring drought with two off Plunkett before adding a single after cutting a wide one through the off side. Plunkett repeats his Silva trick by coming round the wicket to Jayawardene and unleashing a fine bouncer that rears right up into the right-hander. Fine bowling.
Over 43 - Sri Lanka 127/2 (Sangakkara 43, M Jayawardene 4)
Mahela Jayawardene is the new man in and flicks one between wicket-keeper and leg slip for four when facing his second ball. That was a little too close for comfort, but he survives until the end of the over.
Wicket! Silva c Prior b Jordan 57
England finally have the breakthrough! Jordan bounces one into Silva's body and the batsman gloves it down the leg side into the hands of a diving Prior. Billy Bowden initially gives it not out but Alastair Cook immediately goes for the review and the decision is overturned. Big moment.
Over 42 - Sri Lanka 123/1 (Silva 57, Sangakkara 43)
Sri Lanka score their first boundary in a very long time as Silva lofts Root over midwicket and away to the ropes for four. Silva then tries to sweep the spinner away but misjudges it this time and is fortunate to see his top edge fall safe for two runs.
Over 41 - Sri Lanka 116/1 (Silva 50, Sangakkara 43)
Sangakkara has gone into full-on blocking mode now as he defends another over from Jordan. The first five balls cause him no trouble but the sixth moves a bit in the air and finds a way under the bat but is wide of the stumps.
Over 40 - Sri Lanka 116/1 (Silva 50, Sangakkara 43)
Root stays in the attack and concedes two byes as he finds some bounce down the leg side which beats Prior and trickles away into the field. No runs come off the bat during the over.
Over 39 - Sri Lanka 114/1 (Silva 50, Sangakkara 43)
Jordan comes back into the attack and is prodded away square of the wicket by Silva, who runs a single to finally bring up his half-century. Sangakkara takes up a watching brief for the rest of the over, only playing the ball with a straight bat when he has to.
Over 38 - Sri Lanka 113/1 (Silva 49, Sangakkara 43)
Root takes over from fellow off-spinner Moeen and bowls a maiden over to Sangakkara.
Over 37 - Sri Lanka 113/1 (Silva 49, Sangakkara 43)
Broad now gets to have a go at Silva and almost finds the edge with one which zipped off the surface and just beyond the bat of the right-hander. Another maiden over is completed and Silva is still waiting for that fifty.
Over 36 - Sri Lanka 113/1 (Silva 49, Sangakkara 43)
Moeen continues his spell and concedes just one run as Silva keeps edging towards that fifty with a single through the covers.
Over 35 - Sri Lanka 112/1 (Silva 48, Sangakkara 43)
Broad bowls another maiden over but the pitch continues to offer next to nothing to the bowlers and Sangakkara is once again completely untroubled.
Over 34 - Sri Lanka 112/1 (Silva 48, Sangakkara 43)
Sri Lanka enjoy a bit more success off Moeen as Silva and Sagakkara run a single and a two each, the former moving two runs away from a half-century.
Over 33 - Sri Lanka 106/1 (Silva 45, Sangakkara 40)
Broad bowls a maiden over but Sangakkara did not look to be struggling to deal with the England seamer. The hosts have not really found the spark they need yet.
Over 32 - Sri Lanka 106/1 (Silva 45, Sangakkara 40)
Moeen concedes two singles as Silva and Sangakkara keep the scoreboard ticking over without looking threatened at all.
Over 31 - Sri Lanka 104/1 (Silva 44, Sangakkara 39)
Broad resumes from the Pavilion End and concedes two when Sangakkara flicks one off his pads through the leg side. He then runs two more after playing the exact same shot next ball but there is no further scoring for the remainder of the over.
Over 30 - Sri Lanka 100/1 (Silva 44, Sangakkara 35)
Moeen takes the first over after lunch and goes up for a reasonably-sized lbw shout as Sangakkara comes forward on the defensive. It is turned down, though, and England have to watch Sri Lanka bring up the hundred when the left-hander runs a single.
The lunch break has almost finish and we will soon be ready for play to restart at Lord's. England need some wickets in the afternoon session to really put the pressure on Sri Lanka. Can they do it?
And there ends the morning session. England found an early breakthrough when Karunaratne fell to Broad but since then Silva and Sangakkara have batted well to prevent any further wickets from falling and give the tourists' hopes of saving this test a big boost.
Over 29 - Sri Lanka 99/1 (Silva 44, Sangakkara 34)
Broad continues and concedes a boundary when Silva times one perfectly through the covers and past the despairing dive of Joe Root. There are no other runs from the over.
Over 28 - Sri Lanka 95/1 (Silva 40, Sangakkara 34)
Silva runs three after threading a drive past mid-off off the bowling of Moeen. The off-spinner then almost takes a wicket as Sangakkara's edge falls just short of Ian Bell at second slip. That is the closest England have come to removing the left-hander.
Over 27 - Sri Lanka 92/1 (Silva 37, Sangakkara 34)
Broad comes back into the attack and bowls a tidy maiden over as Sangakkara shows a straight bat to the England seamer.
Over 26 - Sri Lanka 92/1 (Silva 37, Sangakkara 34)
Moeen continues and returns to form with a maiden over. Silva tried a heave through the leg side but found the fielder and then had to fend off one which bounced dramatically off a good length.
Over 25 - Sri Lanka 92/1 (Silva 37, Sangakkara 34)
Plunkett serves up another short one to Silva, this time from over the wicket, but the batsman survives and manages to get off strike next ball. Plunkett continues to bowl it short with Sangakkara on strike, but the veteran left-hander deals with the attack well.
Over 24 - Sri Lanka 91/1 (Silva 36, Sangakkara 34)
Moeen bowls his loosest over yet, conceding three twos and a single before Prior appeals for a very optimistic lbw shout. Sangakkara has now passed Shivnarine Chanderpaul as the seventh-highest scorer in Test cricket.
Over 23 - Sri Lanka 84/1 (Silva 33, Sangakkara 30)
Plunkett continues to bombard Silva with short stuff from around the wicket but the right-hander finally gets off strike by flicking one off his hips for a single. Sangakkara then cuts another short ball away for two to end the over.
Over 22 - Sri Lanka 81/1 (Silva 32, Sangakkara 28)
Moeen almost makes it three maidens in a row for England but the last ball of his over his cut away by Sangakkara to the boundary for four runs.
Over 21 - Sri Lanka 77/1 (Silva 32, Sagakkara 24)
Plunkett goes round the wicket to the right-handed Silva and immediately serves up some short stuff, rapping Silva right on the back of the helmet with another one which kept low. There is a short delay as the batsman gets some treatment for the nasty-looking blow but Plunkett has no sympathy and continues to pitch it short. Silva manages to stay out of the way for the rest of the over, though.
Over 20 - Sri Lanka 77/1 (Silva 32, Sagakkara 24)
Another tidy over from Moeen, who bowls a maiden to Sangakkara.
Over 19 - Sri Lanka 77/1 (Silva 32, Sagakkara 24)
Silva works Plunkett into the leg side for a single before Sangakkara finds the gap through midwicket to run three more. Silva then runs another single and Sangakkara is denied a boundary when Moeen makes a fine diving stop just before the ropes. Sri Lanka will be happy with the over though as eight runs come from it.
Over 18 - Sri Lanka 69/1 (Silva 30, Sangakkara 18)
England opt for some spin now as Moeen Ali comes on to bowl his off breaks. He gets away with one when Silva can only put a waist-high full toss away for a single, the only run of the over.
Over 17 - Sri Lanka 68/1 (Silva 29, Sangakkara 18)
Anderson's spell ends after eight overs and Liam Plunkett is the new man into the attack. He concedes three when Sangakkara guides one through the covers and then can't reach the slightest glimmer of a caught and bowled chance as Silva drives an uppish single.
Over 16 - Sri Lanka 64/1 (Silva 28, Sangakkara 15)
Silva helps himself to a very generous full toss from Jordan, stroking the ball away through the covers for four more runs. He then steers one down to fine leg for a single to bring Sangakkara on strike. Sangakkara almost chops onto his stumps when attempting a square cut but instead the ball dribbles away to the ropes for another four.
Over 15 - Sri Lanka 54/1 (Silva 23, Sangakkara 10)
Anderson remains in the attack and almost finds Sangakkara's edge as the left-hander prodded at one outside off stump. The bowler keeps things tight from around the wicket for the rest of the over to complete a third maiden.
Over 14 - Sri Lanka 54/1 (Silva 23, Sangakkara 10)
Jordan bowls three dot balls before Silva middles one through the covers for his third boundary of the day. The next ball also races away for four, this time through square leg after Silva flicked a short one off his hips. Eight from the over and it's time for drinks.
Over 13 - Sri Lanka 46/1 (Silva 15, Sangakkara 10)
Anderson continues for his seventh over and gets one to rear up off a decent length at Sangakkara, who manages to avoid getting an edge on it. In the end he concedes just one off the over - a single to Silva.
Over 12 - Sri Lanka 45/1 (Silva 14, Sangakkara 10)
Chris Jordan is brought into the attack and his loosener his tucked away through the covers by Sangakkara for three runs. Silva's fine edge down the leg side then falls short of Prior and runs away for a single.
Over 11 - Sri Lanka 41/1 (Silva 13, Sangakkara 7)
Sangakkara and Silva combine for four runs from the first three deliveries of Anderson's sixth over as the England seamer starts to get a little loose. A single follows on the fifth ball and the final delivery is a wide and short one which Silva smacks through point for a boundary.
Over 10 - Sri Lanka 32/1 (Silva 6, Sangakkara 6)
Broad concedes two runs from his fifth over, Silva gloving a single down the leg side and Sangakkara running another single after tapping one through the on side.
Over 9 - Sri Lanka 30/1 (Silva 5, Sangakkara 5)
Anderson continues to put the pressure on and looks set for a third straight maiden before his final delivery of the over is clipped fine down the leg side for four by Sangakkara.
Over 8 - Sri Lanka 26/1 (Silva 5, Sangakkara 1)
Kumar Sagakkara is the new man in and gets off the mark straight away. Silva then sees out the rest of the over without further damage.
Wicket! Karunaratne c Robson b Broad 16
England strike! Broad removes Karunaratne with a short one which the left hander flicks onto his thigh pad, with the ball popping up nicely for Sam Robson to take a simple catch at short leg.
Over 7 - Sri Lanka 25/0 (Karunaratne 16, Silva 5)
Silva almost cops another one in the body but this time just manages to get out of the way of Anderson's bouncer. The England bowler completes another maiden, finishing the over with a flourish as he gets one to nip back in to Silva in dramatic fashion.
Over 6 - Sri Lanka 25/0 (Karunaratne 16, Silva 5)
Broad serves up a short, wide one which Karunaratne duly dispatches to the boundary via a high square cut. Another four follows when the same batsman punches a full delivery down the ground to the ropes. Eight from the over.
Over 5 - Sri Lanka 17/0 (Karunaratne 8, Silva 5)
Anderson continues and delivers the first maiden over of the innings, with Silva forced onto the defensive and looking slightly under pressure as he edges one ball down the leg side and another along the floor into the slips.
Over 4 - Sri Lanka 17/0 (Karunaratne 8, Silva 5)
Broad pitches the ball up and keeps things tight for his first four deliveries, but the fifth is a wild one down the leg side which rolls away to the boundary for four byes after evading wicket-keeper Matt Prior's dive.
Over 3 - Sri Lanka 13/0 (Karunaratne 8, Silva 5)
Karunaratne works away a single before Silva is pinged on the body while trying to duck an Anderson bouncer which stayed surprisingly low. Another single, this time from Silva, makes it two from the over.
Over 2 - Sri Lanka 11/0 (Karunaratne 7, Silva 4)
Stuart Broad takes the new ball from the other end and nips one past the edge of Karunaratne with his first delivery. He does the same to Silva later in the over but the batsman responds by driving the last ball of the over away to the boundary for four.
Over 1 - Sri Lanka 5/0 (Karunaratne 5, Silva 0)
James Anderson takes the first over and almost has Karunaratne caught at gully, but the left-hander's outside edge instead races past the fielder and away for four. An lbw shout follows but the ball was going down the leg side and a single from Karunaratne makes it five off the over.
Ready to go
The players are out in the middle at Lord's and the day is about to commence. Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva are the Sri Lanka openers.
There are now fewer than 10 minutes until play commences at Lord's. Do England have the firepower to claim 10 wickets on the final day?
The news has now come through that England have declared on 267-8 in their second innings. That leaves Sri Lanka with a target of 390 for victory and England with a full day's play to bowl out their opponents and secure victory in the series opener.
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary from the fifth and final day of the first Test between England and Sri Lanka at Lord's. England currently have a lead of 389 after reaching 267-8 in their second innings and will surely declare early on to give themselves a realistic chance of bowling the tourists out before the close of play.
