Friends Provident Trophy - Group D
The SWALEC Stadium
Glamorgan 124 (Danish Kaneria 4-16) v Essex 127-3
Essex beat Glamorgan by 7 wkts
Danish Kaneria's leg-spinning masterclass helped Essex hand out a seven-wicket drubbing to Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium.
Kaneria exploited a dry wicket with a magnificent spell of 4-16 from his 10 overs as Glamorgan collapsed to 124 all out after choosing to bat first.
The hosts were 57-7 at one point before Ben Wright's 40 not out at least got them into a collective three figures.
Kaneria, who passed the bat at will and had several close lbw appeals turned down, was well supported by medium pacer David Masters (3-21).
Essex required just 25.5 overs to knock off the required runs with Varun Chopra (37) and Graham Napier (41) putting on 66 for the second wicket.
Both fell to left-arm spinner Dean Cosker (2-48) with the winning line in sight but Matthew Walker (17no) and Grant Flower (15no) completed the run chase without further alarm.
Essex are now joint top of FP Trophy Group D on eight points with Kent, while Glamorgan are bottom with just one win out of five.
