Twenty20 Cup - Midlands/West/Wales Division
Northamptonshire 162-5 (Wessels 43, Sales 41) v Gloucestershire 135
Northamptonshire beat Gloucestershire by 27 runs
A 27-run victory over Gloucestershire at Bristol saw Northamptonshire take maximum points from their first three Twenty20 games on Sunday.
Rikki Wessels top-scored with 43 off 23 balls and David Sales made 41 for the Steelbacks, while Mark Hardinges was the pick of the Gladiators' bowlers with economical figures of 1-18 from his four overs.
The hosts never threatened to reach their target, despite respectable contributions from Marcus North (36) and Hamish Marshall (25) and their last hope evaporated when North was bowled by Lance Klusener, having faced 29 balls and hitting three fours and a six.
Eight of the Gladiators batsmen were bowled and the other two were lbw, a tribute to the accuracy of the Steelbacks' attack.
South African trio Johann Louw (3-18), Andrew Hall (3- 21) and Klusener (2-8) were on top form with the ball for the visitors.
