Hampshire beat Kent by 44 runs
Hampshire Hawks recorded a comprehensive 44-run victory over Kent Spitfires in their Twenty20 Cup South Division fixture at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.
Half-centuries from Michael Lumb and Michael Carberry allowed Hampshire to pile-up 197-6 after opting to bat first.
Opening batsman Lumb plundered 54 from 34 balls and the early momentum was continued by number three Carberry's knock of 57 from 42 balls.
Kent all-rounder Yasir Arafat impressed with figures of 4-38 but Michael Brown took control in the final overs with an unbeaten 40 from 23 balls to ensure a formidable total for the hosts.
It proved far beyond Kent, who mustered only 153-7 in reply, despite a solid 51-ball innings of 63 from opening batsman Joe Denly.
