Kolkata Knight Riders hit the fourth highest total in IPL history as they beat Kings XI Punjab to move into the play-off places.
Sunil Narine smashed 75 off 36 balls at the top of the order and captain Diniesh Karthik thumped a 23-ball 50 to take Kolkata to 245-6 from their 20 overs.
KL Rahul blitzed 66 from 29 balls and Ravi Ashwin made 40 from 22 but despite their best efforts, Kings XI came up 31 runs short.
Narine and Chris Lynn got KKR off to a fantastic start and put on 53 for the first wicket before Lynn was dismissed early in the sixth over.
Having continued to flay the ball to all parts for the first half of the innings, Narine eventually fell to Andrew Tye (4-41) in the 12th and Robin Uthappa (24) went two balls later.
It was a seamless transition though as Andre Russell (31 off 14 balls) and Karthik ensured there was no respite for the Kings XI bowlers, the punishment continuing right to the last.
The Kolkata bowlers fared little better. Rahul and Chris Gayle (21) giving Kings XI hope with a rapid opening stand of 57 before Russell (3-41) had his fellow countryman caught behind.
Mayank Agarwal went next ball and Karun Nair soon after but despite Russell's three-wicket burst, Kings XI kept coming.
Narine (1-44) bowled Rahul in the ninth over to ease any KKR nerves and Ashwin and Aaron Finch played their parts in getting Kings XI that much closer than Kolkata would have liked, the Knight Riders held on for an important win.
