Sourav Ganguly smashed 88 as the Kolkata Knight Riders inflicted a 24-run defeat on defending Indian Premier League champions the Deccan Chargers.
Ganguly's 54-ball contribution contained nine fours and five sixes and led his side to a total of 181-6 after they had chosen to bat first at Eden Gardens.
The 37-year-old was well supported by David Hussey (31) in a fourth-wicket stand of 78 in 8.3 overs after they came together at 68-3.
Jaskaran Singh (2-18), Andrew Symonds (2-26) and Pragyan Ojha (2-38) each picked up two wickets but the runs flowed freely throughout the innings.
The Chargers' run chase finished up well short at 157-5 despite the efforts of Herschelle Gibbs and Symonds.
Gibbs hit 50 off 45 balls and Symonds 45 off 37 but the required rate was always spiralling.
The Knight Riders are now up to fifth in the IPL standings but the Chargers are languishing second bottom in the eight-team competition.
