Kolkata Knight Riders were eliminated from the Champions League Twenty20 after their clash with Perth Scorchers at Kingsmead was abandoned due to rain.
The Indian Premier League champions, who lost their first two matches in Group A, are now unable to qualify for the semi-finals after a third straight contest ended without a victory.
They are still above the Scorchers in the group standings but having played a game less Perth still have a chance to progress to the last four.
Before the weather forced an early end to the action, the Scorchers reached 91-2 in 14 overs after losing the toss and being put in to bat.
Veteran South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs was dismissed by Brett Lee in the first over but Shaun Marsh (38) and Simon Katich (43 not out) steadied the ship with a stand of 70.
After replacing his brother out in the middle, Mitchell Marsh made a pedestrian five before the heavens opened and the contest was called off.
