New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has targeted a confidence-boosting victory in the fifth one-day international against India at Eden Park on Saturday.
India hold an unassailable advantage in the series with three wins either side of the rained out second match.
But Vettori is keen for the Black Caps to restore some pride in Auckland and grab back the initiative ahead of the three-Test series that follows.
"This is a momentum game for us before the Tests - we don't want to go down 4-0, we want to win a game and give our one-day side the credibility it deserves," Vettori said.
"We've played well for a while now, though in this series we haven't showed that against a team that's been a lot better than us in most disciplines."
One of the biggest thorns in New Zealand's side has been India opener Virender Sehwag, who has plundered 259 runs at an average of 86.33.
He smashed an unbeaten 125 from 74 balls in the fourth match in Hamilton to ensure India claimed an 84-run victory on the Duckworth-Lewis method.
"If we get it in the right areas, we can trouble him and we can stop him from scoring," Vettori said of Sehwag.
"We keep imploring the bowlers to make sure they hit the right areas, and if they do, then good things happen."
New Zealand could make one change to their starting XI with off-spinner Jeetan Patel in contention for a recall.
With the series already secured, India are likely to give some of their fringe squad members an opportunity.
Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ohja and seam bowler Irfan Pathan are the most likely beneficiaries.
Batsman Sachin Tendulkar again looks set to miss out due to a bruised abdomen.
Tendulkar was forced to retire hurt after scoring 163 in the third one-dayer in Christchurch but is expected to be fit in time for the first Test, which starts in Hamilton on March 18.
