Friends Provident Trophy - Midlands Division
Ireland 203-9 Innings Complete (P R Stirling 70) v Northamptonshire 207-2 (S D Peters 103 no, N J O'Brien 75)
Northamptonshire beat Ireland by 8 wkts
Stephen Peters stroked an unbeaten 103 to take Northamptonshire to an eight-wicket victory over Ireland in the Midlands Division of the FP Trophy.
Peters' 129-ball innings allowed the hosts to reach a target of 204 with 7.4 overs to spare.
An opening stand of 179 with Niall O'Brien, who was playing against his international colleagues, turned a potentially tricky run chase into a stroll.
O'Brien contributed 75 from 104 balls before being caught by his brother Kevin off the bowling of Ireland's debutant overseas player Ravi Rampaul (1-50).
After Northants skipper Nicky Boje came-and-went for a three-ball duck, David Sales (17 no) joined Peters to finish the job.
Earlier, Ireland had totalled 203-9 after being asked to bat by Boje.
The highlight was 17-year-old Paul Stirling's innings of 70, the number three's knock featuring four fours and four sixes.
England spinner Monty Panesar was the pick of the Northants attack with 3-36.
