Rain prevented any play on the final day at Trent Bridge, leaving Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire to settle for a draw in their Division One clash.
With the home about to start their second innings needing 211 to win an intriguing finish was in prospect, but the adverse weather conditions meant play was called off at around 3.15pm.
Nottinghamshire were clearly the more frustrated of the two sides, desperate for a third championship win of the season which would have moved them further away from the bottom two.
The draw leaves Nottinghamshire in sixth spot having taken 10 points from the game. They are now seven points ahead of Derbyshire with a game in hand, eight clear of the relegation zone and 24 behind Warwickshire, who remain fifth having taken eight points from the match.
Notts have the welcome distraction of their Yorkshire Bank 40 semi-final against Somerset to play on Monday before closing out their County Championship programme with away trips to Middlesex and Durham and a home contest with Somerset.
Warwickshire have a free week in which they will hope for one or two players to regain full fitness, before facing Surrey at home and Derbyshire away in their closing two encounters.
