Ross Taylor guided Rajasthan Royals to a six-wicket victory over Pune Warriors in Jaipur.
Taylor finished on 47 not out from 35 balls as Rajasthan overhauled Pune's 143-7 with three balls to spare, despite being given a scare by leg-spinner Rahul Sharma's 3-13.
Batting first after losing the toss Pune got off to a blazing start thanks to Jesse Ryder and Robin Uthappa, reaching 70 in the ninth over.
Ryder's 12-ball 18 set the tone for Uthappa's blitz, the latter taking on Shane Warne with a string of improvised shots before falling to the leg-spinner for a 21-ball 35 while attempting a reverse-sweep.
Yuvraj Singh's freakish run out - backing up too far at the non-striker's end - pegged Pune back and Manish Pandey failed to capitalise on a solid start as the opener fell for 30 from 31 balls.
They had reached 50 by the sixth over, but took a further 8.3 overs to bring up 100 and with no substantial contribution from the late order - save for a 19-ball 24 from Mithun Mihnas - the home side crawled through the remainder of their allocation.
It was not enough as New Zealand international Taylor and Ajinkya Rahane (15no) calmed nerves with an unbroken match-winning partnership of 52 in 32 balls after Sharma's burst.
