India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of India's one-day international against Sri Lanka on Monday after being struck down with dengue fever.
The illness can be life threatening if not treated properly, however captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni insists he will make a full recovery.
"Yuvraj Singh is not available for this game. He has dengue. But he is out of danger," Dhoni said at a pre-match press conference.
India, who lost by 200 runs to New Zealand in their first match of the tri-series, have already lost pace bowler Zaheer Khan and opening batsman Gautam Gambhir to injury.
Dhoni revealed that bowlers Ashish Nehra (thigh) and Ishant Sharma (knee) are also struggling ahead of the Sri Lanka clash.
"We are monitoring Ashish Nehra. He has got a bit of problem with his glute. So we will take the exact decision before the game. Ishant is shaping well. As of now these are the two players who may be missing out," Dhoni said.
Dinesh Karthik, who had got struck on the hand while batting on an underprepared practice pitch, is expected to play though.
