Uncapped wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella has been added to Sri Lanka's squad for the second Test against South Africa, starting in Colombo on Thursday.
Dickwella, who was flown home from the 'A' tour of England, could replace the out-of-form Dinesh Chandimal behind the stumps for his Test debut.
"Chandimal is available for selection but Dickwella also has a good chance of playing tomorrow," said Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews.
"We will take final decision after looking at the wicket."
Sri Lanka trail 1-0 in the two-match series after going down by 153 runs in Galle and will be without seamer Shaminda Eranga at the SSC.
Eranga needed eight stitches in the webbing between his right thumb and index finger after hurting it in the field
Mathews is backing his side to turn things round at a venue where the last three Tests have all ended in draws.
He said: "It is usually a flat wicket, it does a little bit in the morning session and then turns out to be a batting paradise. I hope it will be different.
"But whatever the pitch we play on we've got find ways to beat South Africa.
"They are a very balanced team in all three departments and we expect a massive challenge from them.
"We have got to sharpen our game in every aspect to compete with them. It's all about mental preparation, we need to prepare for it and the toss won't make a massive difference."
South Africa relied on their seam attack in Galle, where Dale Steyn finished with nine wickets in the match and Morne Morkel seven.
But leg-spinner Imran Tahir made little impact, taking one wicket in 45 overs as his struggles in Test cricket continued.
"Imran is a quality performer. I am not concerned about him at all. He has been exceptional in the shorter format of the game," said South Africa skipper Hashim Amla.
"Test cricket is a challenging place. He will come good, it will take a few good performances to get his confidence back.
"He is a wonderful bowler. I'd say he is one the most highly skilled leg-spinners in the world."
