A brutal innings from Naved-ul-Hasan allowed Sussex Sharks to claim a six-wicket victory over Northamptonshire Steelbacks in Friday evening's Pro40 match.
Naved, batting at number three, smashed 51 from 38 balls to allow Sussex to chase down a target of 189 with 10.3 overs to spare.
Sussex openers Chris Nash (48) and Luke Wright (45) shared a rapid 79-run opening stand to turn the run chase into a formality.
Off-spinner Jason Brown (2-38) removed both Nash and Naved, but Murray Goodwin built on the good work of the top order to take Sussex across the line with an unbeaten 32.
Earlier, Northamptonshire totalled 188-6 after stand-in skipper Stephen Peters opted to bat first at Hove.
Opening batsman Robert White contributed a painstaking 56 and there were also contributions further down the order from Niall O'Brien (40no) and Lance Klusener (31).
The result move Sussex into second in the Pro40 Division One table, while Northamptonshire are rooted to the bottom.
