Sussex preserved their unbeaten start to the LV= County Championship Division One campaign by holding on for a draw against Nottinghamshire on day four at Hove.
The table-topping Sharks looked in real danger of defeat when they slumped to 153-6 with 23 overs left in the match, however wicketkeeper Ben Brown (51 not out) and all-rounder Chris Jordan (28no) dug in to keep Notts at bay.
Despite the frustration of being unable to force victory, Notts leave the south coast with 10 points, while Sussex accrued nine.
The Outlaws took their overnight score of 304-9 on to 330 on the final morning before Luke Wright bowled Paul Franks (78) to end the innings and set Sussex an unlikely 381 for victory.
A draw always looked the favourite outcome but Notts had home nerves jangling by reducing their opponents to 112-5.
Ajmal Shahzad (3-71) removed Chris Nash (46) and Wright (0) in successive overs and then claimed the wicket of Rory Hamilton-Brown (23) to leave Sussex reeling on 153-6.
But Brown and Jordan held firm thereafter, sharing an unbroken 70-run partnership to keep Sussex unbeaten after the first six games of the season.
