SL win by 39 runs
SL have won this two-day ODI against WI by 39 runs, but have failed to secure the bonus point. This will make tomorrow's game between India and SL even more interesting. Bravo and Simmons batted well in a century partnership, but West Indies lost their way after Simmons' fell. SL were disciplined in their batting and bowling today and win by 39 runs.

Malinga to continue in the power play. Another full toss and Bravo gets a single. WICKET! Sammy falls, Malinga takes the catch, it went high up in the air and Sammy falls to the extra bounce. Roach is the new batsman. Bravo gets two, driving through the covers. News is that Kulasekara will not be able to take part in the rest of the series, he tore his the webbing on his hand.

West Indies conceded 31 extras, will they regret that at the end of the day. Eranga into the attack. The power play is on, Bravo gets two as it goes through the point fielder. Bravo hits it to mid on and gets a single. Sammy on strike, swings wildly and misses. Sammy gets a single to mid off, hit it hard. Another single to Bravo, the crowd chanting his name in support. The West Indian captain, Pollard, comes into the middle to join Bravo. It is drizzling and is darker, but the ground staff is not preparing for rain. Malinga to Pollard. Mathews moves into first slip, he is taking his time and waiting for rain. WICKET! Pollard falls, edging one outside the off stump, Sanga takes an easy catch. West Indies in trouble again with the rain around the corner. Sammy plays and misses, and smiles at Malinga. A wicket maiden from Malinga, as good as gold at this stage.

Eranga back into the attack, bowlers being shuffled regularly. Simmons gets a single, it is getting darker and WI are behind in terms of D/L method. Bravo mistimes a pull but it falls short of Mathews, no run. Bravo gets a single to point. Simmons hits it hard, a good shot for four runs. A bit of time wasted as Simmons wants to change his bat. Four, the change of bat worked Simmons cuts it past point and third man for four, good execution. WICKET! Simmons falls, it is hit to deep point and Thirimanne catches it comfortably.

This game is alive now. 97 runs needed from 11 overs, just under 9 per over. This pair have batted well in a 100 run partnership. Malinga back into the attack to get a wicket and break this partnership. Simmons gets a single from the first ball, Bravo will face Malinga. Glorious shot from Bravo, bringing up his 50 with a classic cover drive. That shot reminds us of Lara, Bravo picks up a single after the boundary. Simmons digs out a yorker from Malinga, good defense. Loose delivery from Malinga, full toss on the leg side and Simmons puts it away for four. A single down to third man to finish the over.

Senanayake into the attack, Mathews shuffling his bowlers. A couple of singles, this partnership inching towards the 100 run mark. Simmons hits it over long off on the up, gets the crucial boundary for this over. Simmons gets his 50 and the gets a single to end the over.

Eranga is back into the attack, and Simmons hits him out of the ground and it lands on the roof of the stands. Simmons edges it and there are no slips so he will pick up another four. Third man has no chance, it has gone too fine. Eranga responds with another dot ball. Simmons gets a single from the last ball to make it 11 from the over.

The run rate required now just over 9 runs per over. Lovely shot from Bravo, commanding stroke over long off for four. Then he drives through the covers for a couple of runs. Bravo ducks against the short ball and lets it go. Three runs for Bravo as he pulls it strongly to deep square leg who fumbles but saves a run for Sri Lanka. A good yorker, Simmons digs it out for a single.

Mathews brings himself on, after just one over from Mendis. Bravo smashes this to deep point for just a single. Good bowling from Mathews, keep it tight and angling it away from the right handed Simmons. Simmons misses a few, but then swings his bat and hits it out of the park for six. Good shot, just a bit short from Mathews, and Simmons hits it over midwicket.

Malinga comes back, to break this partnership. Powerfully pulled along the ground, Mahela keeps it down to one which should have been two. A good yorker squeezed away for four by Bravo, skillful shot but not sure he intended to hit it there. Bravo runs it down to third man for a single. Six from the over.

Jeevan Mendis to bowl some leg spin and leg breaks. Sometimes bowls googlies more than leg breaks. Good stop by short fine leg, stopping the boundary, Mendis getting away with the full toss. Six, the third full toss gets the treatment it deserves, Bravo swats it for six down the ground. A big swing and a miss from Bravo to end the over. WI 90 for 4 after 25.

Thirimanne brought back into the attack, WI will look to attack him. Simmons goes in the air and over mid off, and gets a one bounce four. A decent over for the hosts, 8 from it.

Mathews brings himself back on, keeping Malinga for the later part of the innings. That is wide down leg, Sanga can't collect it and it goes for five wides. Bonus runs for the West Indies. Senanayake almost beat Bravo with the arm ball, who was playing for the spin. Then he spins the next one to keep Bravo guessing. Simmons tries to sweep, and the ball bounces awkwardly on to him. Simmons gets off the mark with a single. Bravo ticks over the scorecard with a single. WI 38 for 4 after 14 overs.

Thirimanne comes in to bowl, a cross seam delivery that bounces awkwardly on Bravo. Thirimanne bowling simple and straight, Bravo playing carefully. Bravo gets a single from a cut shot to deep point. Good over, just a single from it.

Mathews starts bowling, earlier than he would have anticipated. WICKET! Gayle gets an outside edge and Mathews gets the first break through for Sri Lanka, Eranga takes the catch at short third man. Devon Smith is the new batsman.

SL need to restrict West Indies to 183 to get the bonus point. Gayle dispatches Eranga through the covers for four, that flew to the boundary. Gayle swings again and misses. Eranga getting the treatment, Gayle hits this over the covers for four, no feet movement but a strong shot, Eranga inconsistent in his line and length.

Kulasekara continues. Charles hits him over midwicket for four, the powerplay is only 8 overs so West Indies will have to bat well and make the most of these overs. Dropped! Gayle comes down the wicket and hits it straight to Kulasekara who gets his fingers to it but can't catch it. He has hurt his fingers, but the drop will hurt more. Pollard bowls the last over, Senanayake edges it towards third man for two. Pollard bowls a short one and Senanayake misses it completely. Sanga runs three as Senanayake hits it to third man. Bravo saves some runs on the boundary, keeping it down to two. WICKET! Bravo then runs in from the boundary to catch Senanayake. Sri Lanka get to 219 for 8 which is a good total under these conditions.

Holder to start the second last over. WICKET! Holder gets Kulasekara and Darren Bravo takes a good catch, it went really high in the air but well caught in the end. Senanayake is the new man, joins Sanga at the crease. Good fielding by Smith on the boundary, just pushes the ball back in before it gets to the ropes. Good running from Sanga, who hits it down the ground and runs two. Sanga hits it to third man for four, moves on to 89, Sri Lanka 211 for 7 with one over to go.
Over 39 SL 201/6 (Sangakkara 80, Kulasekara 15)
It is drizzling now and Pollard decides to take matters into his hands and brings himself on to bowl. Kulasekara goes across his stumps and can't hit this but stil gets a single. Good improvisation from Sanga, working the ball into the leg side and it was a no ball, so free hit time. Sanga hits it high in the air and they get a couple of runs from the free hit. Sanga walks across again and hits it in the air towards square leg for two. Then he comes down the pitch and edges it past short third man for four. Good over for Sri Lanka, and good improvisation from Sanga.

Four overs to go, with dark clouds on the horizon. Samuels comes into the attack. Over throws, and four of them, Pollard throws it like a rocket and it goes over the stumps for four. Kulasekara hits it over cover for four, got into a good position to beat the fielders.

Best into the attack. Six, Sanga hooks this away for a six between square and fine leg. Four, Sanga have switched gears and played this through midwicket for four, another cracking shot. Another wide, Best gives away another extra under pressure. 14 runs from the over

Kulasekara is the new batsman. A couple of singles and the Sanga plays it fine to third man for four. He is on 49 now, scoring some crucial runs for Sri Lanka. Another wide, from Holder. Sanga gets to his 76th fifty with a single to mid off. Holder gets Kulasekara on his helmet, good short ball. Kulasekara gets hold of that one and hits it out of the park for a six.

The powerplay is taken and Roach is brought back to replace Holder. WICKET! Mathews tries to create room for himself and hits it straight to point, Roach gets Mathews caught at point. Mendis is the new man. Mendis gets a top edge and gets a boundary, lucky runs for Mendis. This time it is a better shot that gets a four for Mendis, the point fielder had no chance. WICKET! Mendis is a long way across his stumps and is given out caught behind. Roach picks up two in this over.

Samuels continues, Mathews hits him for a six over long on, good shot. Sanga frees his arms and gets a single to long on. Samuels gets it full and straight but Mathews digs it out. Same ball, same shot but this time they get a single.
Over 33 SL 129/4 (Sangakkara 42, Matthews 22)
The game has been reduced to 41 overs, so SL only have 9 overs left in their innings. Holder comes back into the attack, he has three overs left. Holder is getting extra bounce from the pitch, Mathews swings his bat and gets a single, as he mishits it to square leg. A drop and run from Sanga, well run. Mathews tries to smash that through the leg side, and misses again. Mathews gets hold of that one and hits it straight past the bowler for a handy boundary.

Samuels appeals for lbw as Mathews tries the reverse sweep, umpire uninterested. Mathews tries to cut the quicker one from Samuels only to get a bottom edge on it and it runs down to the ropes for four. A single from the last ball, SL 122 for 4.

Sanga to face Pollard who replaces Sammy. They go for the quick single and Sangakkara changes direction mid way but is safe, well judged single. Sanga hits a few straight to the fielders. Another good over from the West Indies.

Samuels continues, Mathews works him for a single on the leg side. Sanga stylishly hits it to long on for a single. After 30 overs, SL are 110 for 4.

Sangakkara should play the anchor innings, Mathews should look to score quicker to reduce pressure on Sangakkara. Mathews takes a single down to fine leg. Sanga is looking in good touch, but he has to bat through the innings. A quiet over to end Sammy's spell, 9 overs for 24 runs.

Samuels bowls to a spread out field, offering easy singles and SL make sure they pick them up. WICKET! Samuels breaks the partnership, Thirimanne misses the quicker one and the stumps are rattled. Sangakkara works it off his pads on to deep square leg, Darren Bravo on the boundary keeps it down to two. Sangakkara gets a single to mid on. Best checking his run up, the batsmen looking to rotate the strike and attack the bowlers.

Sanga plays and misses, then next ball he smashes Sammy for four down the ground. Sanga blocks a couple after the boundary. SL have looked more attacking in their running between wickets and overall approach today, and they need to be to get to a good score.
Over 21 SL 65/3 (Sangakkara 14, Thirimanne 15)
Best to start from the other end. Sangakkara plays it to third man for a single. The pitch has been under covers, and there is grass cover on the pitch so it will be interesting to see how it plays. Cracking shot from Sanga, but great fielding from Sammy stops a certain boundary.

Sammy will start with the ball. The extras are the top scorer, and Sanga and Thirimanne at the crease. Sammy on the money to start, keeping it tight and cramping the batsmen for room, good wicket to wicket bowling. Thirimanne walks across his stumps and gets a single on the leg side.
The match has been reduced to 45 overs per side. SL will start were they left off yesterday at 60 for 3. The D/L method adjustments are complicated, but it wont be too drastic in this match.
