The Orioles led 3-0 after the fourth, but a two-run homer from Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the fifth and a sacrifice fly from Cody Ross pulled the Red Sox level.
Rookie Machado then homered to lead off the seventh to ensure Baltimore went level with the Yankees, who earlier had lost 3-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays.
