The 23-year-old clocked a combined time of two minutes 13.09 seconds to send the partisan crowd home happy.
She was more than half a second ahead after the first run and it was a similar margin in the second as she held off overall World Cup leader Tina Maze by 1.13secs.
Tessa Worley was second after the first descent but could not overhaul Maze later in the day, however despite the difficult conditions due to snow and wind Fenninger kept her nerve to win by a wide margin.
"It was like dancing on the snow," said Fenninger.
The consolation for Maze was that the points she pocketed for second place meant that she moved further ahead atop the overall standings, with nearest rival Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany a huge 417 points adrift.
