Coventry Blaze have extended the contract of British defenceman Steven Chalmers until the end of the 2013-14 Rapid Solicitors Elite League campaign.
The Kirkcaldy-born 20-year-old made a permanent switch to the Skydome recently having initially agreed a two-way deal from English Premier League side Telford Tigers at the start of the season.
Chalmers expressed a desire to play full-time at Elite League level and Coventry head coach Paul Thompson has been thrilled with what he has seen.
He said: "He is a young kid who has really impressed me. Steven is an exciting talent and someone who I have liked for a long time.
"We now have him, James Griffin and Ross Venus on two-year deals. Matt Selby has also come on and we will be keeping Dale White with us for the rest of the season too.
"We feel we have a group of young British guys 20 and under who can really make progress in the next few years and we can help them improve.
"They have done a fantastic job for us this year. The veteran guys on the team have been brilliant with them - they are always talking to them in a positive way.
"(Assistant coach) Matty Soderstrom has also played a big part in their progression. He runs the 'D', especially on match nights, and he takes them under his wing during practice and is working very hard with them."
