Ice Hockey Challenge Cup final: Belfast Giants claim 5-2 first leg lead over Nottingham Panthers
Belfast Giants recorded a 5-2 win in the first leg of the Challenge Cup final against Nottingham Panthers.

Nottingham, who have won the trophy for the last four seasons, have it all to do on home ice if they are to turn the tie around.
Belfast had the better of the play in the first period as they outshot their opponents 14-4 and two Craig Peacock goals gave the Giants a 2-0 lead.
Belfast increased their lead early in the second period through Jeffery Szwez only for Nottingham to hit back through Robert Farmer at 23.53.
Fourteen seconds later the Giants restored their three goal lead with a strike from Colin Shields 24.07. and when Darryl Lloyd made it 5-1 at 28.25 the contest looked over.
However, the plucky Panthers went up the other end and netted their second of the game through Jonathan Weaver to keep hopes alive, just.
