Elise Christie will compete in the 1,000m short track speed skating heats at the Winter Olympics on Tuesday, three days after injuring her ankle.

Christie has been racing against the clock to be fit after suffering soft tissue damage after a fall in Saturday's 1,500m semi-finals.

The Team GB skater had to be stretchered off the ice and taken to hospital after coming together with China's Jinyu Li on the final bend.

The 27-year-old had posted video of her on an exercise bike on Sunday and after trying to skate on Tuesday morning, Christie confirmed she would be entering her final event.

She posted on social media: "I'm just about to go down to the ice rink to go and try to compete today."

Christie's Olympic nightmare, which started in Sochi four years ago with three disqualifications, has continued in South Korea with a fall having also ended her medal hopes in the 500m final last week.
