Jari-Matti Latvala edged closer to victory in the Rally of Germany by increasing his lead on the penultimate day of the event.
On a day when Latvala’s Volkswagen Motorsport team-mate Seabstien Ogier crashed out, the Finn extended his advantage from 37 seconds to 56.6s.
The challenge of World Rally Championship leader Ogier came to an end when he smashed into a roadside barrier on stage eight, which was subsequently cancelled for safety reasons.

"We were in sixth gear on a long straight," Ogier said.
"Then there was a slight corner to the right on a ridge. The jump was a little longer than we thought, the back took off when we touched down and I lost control of the car.
"Then we hit the roadside barrier and we landed in a ditch. The most important thing at the moment is that Julien (Ingrassia, the co-driver) and me are both okay."
Britain’s Kris Meeke was in second position at the end of the day with Thierry Neuville in third place, four seconds further back. Dani Sordo and Andreas Mikkelsen completed the top five.
