New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens lost their unbeaten status in week four as the Denver Broncos maintained their winning start.

Bill Belichick's men were shutout at home 16-0 by divisional rivals Buffalo Bills, falling to their first loss of the season. LeSean McCoy scored the only touchdown of the game, with Dan Carpenter adding three field goals. It is the first time New England have failed to score at home since 1993, when they lost 6-0 to the New York Jets.

The Patriots struggled on offence, driving for a total of just 277 yards. They welcome back first choice quarterback Tom Brady for their week five match against the Cleveland Browns, after utilising Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett for the first four weeks.

With the Philadelphia Eagles enjoying a bye week after three straight wins, the Denver Broncos were the only team in action over the weekend to maintain their perfect record - Minnesota Vikings play the New York Giants on Monday night.

The Broncos beat Tampa Bay 27-7 despite injury to starting quarterback Trevor Siemian to move to 4-0 in defence of the Super Bowl title they won last year.

In their first game without J.J Watt since 2010, the Houston Texans beat their divisional rivals Tennessee Titans 27-20 to remain top of the AFC South. Having scored the first touchdown of his NFL career, rookie wide receiver Will Fuller scored on a 67 yard punt return which proved to be decisive in the tie.

The Texans defence rallied as they look to move on without Watt, who is likely to miss the rest of the regular season with a back injury. Jadeveon Clowney had a sack and two tackles, and linebacker Benardrick McKinney added nine tackles to restrict Tennessee to just three second half points.

Julio Jones had 300 yards as the Atlanta Falcons surprised the Carolina Panthers, running out 48-33 winners in the all-NFC South clash. Jones, who only had one reception against the Saints on Monday night, averaged 25 yards per reception and scored a 75 yard touchdown.

The Falcons offensive unit overpowered the usually-dominant Panthers defence, Matt Ryan throwing for 503 yards and four touchdowns. Carolina quarterback Cam Newton had to leave the game after sustaining a concussion, replaced by backup Derek Anderson.

Russell Wilson threw three touchdown passes as the Seattle Seahawks beat the New York Jets 27-17. Wearing a knee brace and looking far less mobile than is usual, Wilson still threw for over 300 yards as Seattle move to 3-1.

Jets running back Matt Forte was held to just 27 yards off 14 carries, but there was a touchdown for wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who saw more action due to the injury of Eric Decker.

Andre Roberts scored an 85 yard touchdown return for the Detroit Lions but he could not prevent his side losing 17-14 to the Chicago Bears. Eddie Royal caught seven passes for 111 yards and a touchdown, as the Bears got their first win of the season.

New Orleans were involved in another shoot-out, the Saints edging out the San Diego Chargers 35-34 to record their first win of the season although they remain bottom of the NFC South.

Washington Redskins recorded back-to-back wins having started the season with successive defeats, Jay Gruden's men moving to 2-2 with a 31-20 win over the Cleveland Browns who are now the only team in the NFL without a win this season. Dallas Cowboys improved to 3-1 for the season with 24-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers

LA Rams moved to the top of the NFL West with a third straight victory, Jeff Fisher's men downing the Arizona Cardinals 17-13 to leave the Cards (1-3) facing an uphill battle for the remainder of the season after their surprisingly poor start.
