With the schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games now announced, skysports.com brings you our guide to help you get your hands on the must-have tickets.
When do Olympic Games tickets go on sale?
Applications for Olympic Games tickets open on March 15 and close at 11.59pm on Tuesday 26 April 2011. There is no advantage to applying on the first or the last day, just think and get your application in. Only one application can be submitted per email address and Visa card. There are also ticket limits per session.
When do Paralympic Games tickets go on sale?
Applications for Paralympic Games tickets open on September 9, 2011 and will follow a similar sales process to Olympic Games tickets. If you would like to apply for tickets to the London 2012 Paralympic Games, you can make a start by registering your interest at www.tickets.london2012.com
How do I apply?
Tickets are only available on the official London 2012 website - www.tickets.london2012.com - for people who are aged 16 and over and are residents of the UK or designated European countries. The UK Armed Forces can also apply.
Can I only apply online?
UK residents who do not wish to apply for tickets online can use the paper ticket application form contained in the official ticketing guide. This can be collected from your local Lloyds TSB branch (or Bank of Scotland in Scotland only) and your local library in Northern Ireland between 15 March and 25 April 2011.
What about overseas residents?
Regardless of citizenship, you will need to apply for tickets via your National Olympic Committee or National Paralympic Committee.
How will the tickets be shared out for the really popular events?
A ballot that is automated and random will kick in for over-subscribed sessions. London 2012 say this is to try to ensure a fair allocation on a session-by-session basis. The ballot seeks to get a broad reach of different applicants who will get tickets, London 2012 said.
How do I pay if I am applying online?
A Visa card - either debit, credit or prepaid - will be needed along with a valid email address to apply online. London 2012 said: "If you do not have a Visa card, your bank will be able to help you select and apply for the Visa product that most suits your needs. Alternatively, a Visa prepaid product is a quick and easy way to start paying with Visa immediately."
How do I apply if I do not have internet access?
The official ticketing guide includes a paper application form which can be collected from branches of Lloyds TSB branch (or Bank of Scotland in Scotland only) and the local library in Northern Ireland between March 15 and April 25, 2011. Payment can be by Visa card or by cheque or postal order.
Is there access for the disabled with these tickets?
Wheelchair spaces are available in all price categories for every Olympic sport, subject to availability. A companion seat is included in the ticket price for a wheelchair space. Where applicable, the special prices for young people and seniors will also be available when buying a wheelchair space. You can also apply for tickets for accompanying family or friends on the same application, all of whom will be seated next to, or as close as possible to, the wheelchair space and companion seat.
So what kind of access will be offered?
When you apply for tickets say, for each session, if there are any additional accessibility needs. All members of a party will be located together so you do not need to advise how many people have additional accessibility requirements. London 2012 say the options include seats close to the action for visually impaired people, seats with a direct view of a video screen for people who are deaf or have impaired hearing, seats for people who cannot manage many steps, at the back or the front of a stand and seats for people who need to be on the end of a row. There will also be commentary and audio description, audio enhancements, facilities for guide dogs and other assistance dogs plus accessible toilets including hoists.
