Pendleton: Taking part in the Sky Sports London Freewheel

Olympic heroes including Victoria Pendleton and Ed Clancy are lined up to take part in the Sky Sports London Freewheel later this month.

Pendleton, who won gold in the women's sprint, and Clancy, who was part of the victorious team pursuit squad in Beijing, will join thousands of cyclists on Sunday 21st September.

The Sky Sports London Freewheel will see Londoners dust off their bikes and enjoy cycling around a traffic-free London.

The route takes in views of the Tower of London, Tower Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace. Hubs at the Emirates Stadium, Clapham Common, Victoria Park and Ravenscourt Park will provide rest and refreshment points.

Last year, more than 38,000 cyclists descended on the city's streets, and this September's event promises to be bigger and better.

The entire route is 12km and there is no start or finish; competitors can cycle as little or as much as they want; there is even a shorter route for the children.

Sky Sports will be providing a host of entertainment on the day with the chance to meet some of Britain's Olympic cycling medallists plus mountain bike demonstrations, and the chance to test your speed against the Olympic team.
