Wow! Wasn't this the best Olympics? I've hardly slept for 16 days and am SO proud of every one of our athletes, Gold, Silver, Bronze or PBs they gave their all. Please let's not be cynical Brits about 2012 - their efforts deserve our total support. And why all the surprise about Boris's suit? He's always a scruffy g**!

China hosted a superb games and team GB were fantastic made you proud to be British but then enter Boris Johnson isn't Saville Row in London! followed by the red bus an aging rock star X factor winner And almost retired footballer is that all we could come up with.What will happen in 2012 we need some inspiration before then.

It was a great game in Beijing2008. Thank you for contributing such a magnificent party for the whole world. Meanwhile, London is ready for 2012 both in the great performance in the compititions and the closing ceremony 8 mins show in Beijing. Congratulations!

If you never knew Boris was a scruff before the ceremony then you cannot have been reading papers and watching the news. The story in Beijing must be the excellent performances, generally, by the GB team. The successes are obvious as are the disappointments. We can deliver both a show and medals in 2012.

I thought Beijing did a wonderful job of hosting the Olympics, despite some idiots trying to bring politics into it. The opening ceremony was breath taking, although a lot of the camer-work left a lot to be desired, but it's the closing of the Olympics that has to be the greatest disappointment! No, not the Beijing show, the London show! Did nobody ever teach Boris Johnson that you don't put your hands in your pockets and that his suit(?) jacket should have at least had one button fastened? Also, what on earth was that rubbish performance from the English contingency supposed to convey to the world? An aged guitarist gurning his way through his performance, Leona Lewis destroying a fantastic song, and all that rubbish at the supposed bus stop! The girl walking on the people - is that supposed to convey we walk all over other countries? That's what it looked like. I believe in contrast to the spectacular show delivered by Beijing, we got it spectacularly wrong! I hope we can do better in the run-up to 2012 and when we do finally host the Olympic games!

Team GB were amazing, the Chinese opening and closing ceremonies were amazing. Boris was scruffy, and there were more mistakes from performers in the British 8 minute slot than in the entire Chinese performance. Lets hope we can improve in the next 4 years!

The London handover was reflective of how London 2012 is going to pan out. Scruffy, done on the cheap and hijacked by the English as our own. How, ecactly does Leona Lewis, some old guy playing a guitar and another has been, Beckham, reflect everything that is BRITISH. How the world must have chuckled at us and in particular our very own Boris !!

I agree with Liz Hugill, Our athletes did us proud in a well organized games, what a pity that the Mayor of London looked so scruffy as if he had slept in his suit. Contrast that with the immaculately turned out Beijing Mayor. First impressions go a long way and i'm afraid Boris didn't do Britain any favours. Lets hope the games of 2012 measure up better than his tailor.

After watching our team make us so proud I was not impressed at all by our London performance at the closing of the games, and felt it was a complete let down to us, and quite embarressing. Maybe the lighting and sound could of been better but I hope that things may improve in 4 years time.

I enjoyed every bit of the games. China did an excellent job. Well done GB. Unfortunately, Boris Johnson let Great Britain down as he was so scruffy. Could he not fasten his jacket like every other official? His trousers were also too long. I felt ashamed.
