I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Luis Suarez go down

On Goals on Sunday, I was discussing the incident where Kevin Mirallas won a penalty for Everton against Wigan. There was only slight contact, but the ball was still there for him to score a goal and there was no reason for him to go down. However, that slight contact was enough to send him over - and I was trying to make the point that people are quick to castigate players, but minimal contact can genuinely cause you to go down sometimes. Then you see an incident like the Suarez one and you think 'what are you doing?' Last week against Norwich he was denied one of the most blatant penalties you could wish to see, maybe his reputation went before him, but you can't defend what he did against Stoke. Brendan Rodgers can't defend that. He should be asked to explain himself on that one.

You don't want to play Manchester United straight after a defeat

Over the years we've seen that Man United are so often at their best just after a defeat and after losing at home to Tottenham, Newcastle were unfortunate to be next in line. Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't tolerate mediocrity, so you could bet your bottom dollar that they were going to bounce back in style on Monday. I thought Wayne Rooney looked good in midfield; he showed that he can play, he can pass and he can do everything you need in that position. He gives them another dimension when he plays like that.

There's still plenty of time for Mark Hughes to sort out QPR

I know Tony Fernandes and he's a decent fellow. He's given Mark Hughes ample opportunity at QPR and you can't argue with the money he's been given for transfer fees and wages. You thought they were going down last season, but Hughes got them out of trouble. They're struggling at this moment in time, but there's a long way to go. They have a home game with Everton next and then a trip to Arsenal; two incredible games that won't make life any easier for him. But you never know what's going to happen in this game. They are suffering a bit now, but Fernandes is supporting him at the moment and Mark will hope that continues and he has the chance to sort everything out.

Paul Lambert will live and die by his decisions, like any manager

Sometimes a manager doesn't do what everyone thinks they should and hindsight can be a wonderful thing. Maybe if he'd played Darren Bent against Tottenham it might have made a difference, but at the end of the day we don't really know. Maybe if he'd played instead of Christian Benteke then they'd have lost by even more? Supporters don't let you get away with anything in this day and age and a lot of them will think they'd have had a better chance of winning if he'd played Bent. We'll never know, but Lambert is another manager under severe pressure.

Theo Walcott looks like a centre-forward to me

Theo has always said he wants to play up front and he thinks that's his best position. He is a fabulous finisher and seems tailor-made for that role. He's rarely had an opportunity through the middle at Arsenal, but when he pops up in the centre and gets opportunities he's shown he is a good finisher. He makes good runs and he must have asked Arsene Wenger for a chance in that position. Obviously he has competition in people like Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski and his chances are limited, so maybe he's keeping his options by not signing a new contract. There's no reason why he shouldn't because Arsenal aren't far away from being a very good team. A couple of defensive lapses have let them down of late, but they nearly look like the old Arsenal to me.
