Monday's market moves

Sky Bet Betting Blog Posted 11th August 2008 view comments

Padraig Harrington is now 125/1 with Sky Bet to hold all four majors at the same time following his victory in the USPGA Championship.

Three weeks on from his four-shot victory at Royal Birkdale to record back-to-back Open Championship wins, Harrington was toasting his success in becoming the first European since Scotland's Tommy Armour in 1930 to win the PGA Championship.

Harrington: Brilliant winner

Harrington: Brilliant winner

His two-shot win over Sergio Garcia of Spain and America's Ben Curtis at Oakland Hills made him the first European to win not just the British Open and the PGA Championship in the same year but to win any majors consecutively in the same year.

And if he can add the US Masters and US Open next season then he'll hold all four major titles, a 125/1 chance with Sky Bet.

Harrington is now 7/2 with Sky Bet to win a major in 2009, 16/1 to repeat his double and 14/1 for an Open hat-trick.

He's also 4/1 to be the top European points scorer at the Ryder Cup.

Second chance

Teenage diving sensation Tom Daley's much-hyped Olympic debut ended in disappointment after he and partner Blake Aldridge finished last in the men's synchronised 10metre platform event.

And Sky Bet don't expect the youngster to get a medal in the individual event either.

Daley will now compete in the 10m platform individual in Beijing but he's 33/1 for gold, 5/1 for a medal and 4/7 for a top-eight finish with the Harrogate-based layers.

Second chance?

After crashing out in the opening round of the men's singles tennis, Andy Murray joined forces with elder brother Jamie and managed to win their first-round doubles match against Daniel Nestor and Frederic Niemeyer.

The pair have been trimmed from 14/1 to 11/1 by Sky Bet to win gold in the doubles and 3/1 is quoted for them to win a medal of any colour.

Spitfires hot favourites

Kent take on Leicester in the Pro40 competition, live on Sky Sports 1 from 4:30pm tomorrow.

Hosts Kent, who have already beaten both Warwickshire and Glamorgan, are 2/5 with Sky Bet to keep up their 100% record in the Pro40 while Leicestershire are 7/4.

It's 13/8 for any batsman to score a century, 4/6 for the Spitfires to hit more sixes than Leicestershire, 11/10 for there to be over 1.5 run outs in the match and 5/1 for the first team to bat to post 300 runs or more.

Leicestershire, who lost their last match to Glamorgan on the final ball, will be hoping Jacques Du Toit can carry his form forward after hitting 144 off just 119 balls and it's 4/1 for Du Toit to be Leicestershire's top batsman again.

Daley 9/2 To Grab Medal

Tom Daley is 9/2 with Sky Bet to win a medal in 10m individual platform after the 14-year old diving sensation finished last in the synchronised event.

It's 33/1 for Daley to bounce back from Monday's disappointment to strike gold and 4/7 that he finishes in the top eight.

As expected the Chinese pair Yue Lin and Liang Huo took gold in the 10m synchronised diving with Germany taking silver and Russia winning bronze.

It's 1/3 for China to secure another gold medal in the men's 3m synchronized springboard, with Russia quoted at 4/1 and Germany priced at 14/1.
