Friday's market moves

Sky Bet Betting Blog Posted 31st October 2008 view comments

Sky Bet report plenty of support for their quote of 8/1 about David Bentley's stunning strike against Arsenal this week being Match Of The Day's goal of the season.

Bentley's 43-yard volley gave Spurs a 1-0 lead in a dramatic north London derby which eventually finished 4-4.

And punters clearly feel it will be a major contender for goal of the season, with Sky Bet's Head of PR Helen Jacob saying: "We've been inundated with people backing Bentley's goal and have taken several chunky bets.

Bentley: Wonder strike

"We've quite a liability building up and have cut the odds into 5/1 as a result."

Meanwhile after agreeing his loan deal with AC Milan, Sky Bet quote 8/11 that David Beckham scores less than two Serie A goals for the Italian giants.

Six appeal

The Stanford Superstars sent England a warning message ahead of their $20 million match this Saturday by destroying Middlesex by 58 runs.

Stanford Superstars line up against England on Saturday and Sky Bet are offering 10/11 for the Stanford Superstars to come away victorious (4/5 England).

The Superstars hit a massive 14 sixes against a Middlesex side that England only managed to beat by 12 runs and it's 10/11 for the Superstars to hit the most sixes tomorrow evening (5/4 England & 11/2 tie) and 5/6 for there to be over 10.5 sixes hit in the match (5/6 under 10.5).

Crunch clash

Following their 32-22 victory over Papua New Guinea, England travel to Melbourne to take on world champions and tournament favourites Australia, live on Sky Sports 1 from 8:30am Sunday.

Tony Smith knows his side must dramatically improve to stand any chance of giving the world champions a game.

They were expected to beat Papua New Guinea comfortably in their opening game but instead found themselves 12-16 down at half time but a brace of tries from Ade Gardner helped England to victory. Sky Bet are offering 12/1 for the St Helens winger to score the first try of the match and 6/4 to score at anytime in the match.

England are 10/11 to beat Australia with a handicap start of 14 points, 7/2 to win from scratch (1/6 Australia & 25/1 draw) and evens to be leading at the break with a handicap start of 8 points.

Sky Bet are also offering a selection of alternative handicaps including; 7/4 for England to win with a handicap start of 8.5 points, 4/5 for England to win with a handicap start of 14.5 points and 5/4 for the defending world champions to win with a handicap start of -17.5 points.

Welcome back

On Saturday, Robbie Keane will return to White Hart Lane for the first time since his £19m move last July and Sky Bet are offering odds on what the 28 year-old Ireland international will do first during the match.

It's 9/4 that he is subbed before scoring (2/1), being booked (6/1), hitting the woodwork (10/1), being sent off (33/1) or the final whistle (5/2).

Rejuvenated Tottenham are 13/5 to take maximum points from their home encounter with the league leaders (11/10, draw 9/4) and are 10/1 to come from behind and win after staging a remarkable come-back at the Emirates in midweek.
