Backe new favourite in Notts County manager betting

Sky Bet reports an astonishing gamble on Hans Backe in their next Notts County manager betting. The former Mexico and Manchester City assistant manager has been backed down from 33/1 to odds-on in under an hour to succeed Ian McParland at Meadow Lane.

Who will take the reins at Notts County?

Who will take the reins at Notts County?

After Sky Bet added him into the betting at 33/1 earlier this afternoon, the gamble on Backe, who has worked alongside fellow Swede Sven-Goran Eriksson at Manchester City and in Mexico, has quickly gathered momentum. Backe is also considered a frontrunner to succeed Lars Lagerback as manager of Sweden.

Sky Bet's football betting spokesman Mike Triffitt said: "Although it's not unusual to see gambles of this nature in manager markets, the pace of this one has been surprising as Backe hadn't even been touted as a contender for the Notts County job.

"Customers are snapping up any price we put up about him taking over at Meadow Lane."

Four Nations Betting Australia 15/8 to beat NZ in the final

The 2009 Four-Nations series continues tomorrow and Sky Bet are offering 6/1 for the final to be a repeat of the 2008 World Cup final were New Zealand beat their bitter rivals Australia . It's 11/8 for Australia to defeat England in the final and 15/8 for Australia to gain revenge for their world cup defeat by beating New Zealand.

Sky Bet's David Sykes said: "Australia lost to New Zealand in last year's world cup final and are attractively priced at 15/8 to gain revenge by beating the Kiwi's in this year's Four-Nations final."

Tomorrow sees the 2/7 favourites for the competition Australia take on New Zealand and it's 10/11 for Australia to win with a handicap of -16 points (10/11 NZ +16 & 16/1 Draw). The Kiwis, who beat Tonga 40-24 last week, are 20/1 to beat Australia by the same winning margin as their world cup final victory, 11 to 15 points and it's 3/1 for New Zealand to be leading after 40 minutes (1/4 Australia).

Pompey 5/2 to reach 10 points before Hull

It's a relegation six-pointer this weekend when Hull host bottom of the table Portsmouth at the KC Stadium and Sky Bet are offering 7/4 for Paul Hart's side to secure only their second win of the season (6/4 Hull & 12/5 Draw). Pompey, who have taken just three points from nine games with a solitary victory over Wolves, are 5/2 to reach ten points before their relegation rivals Hull, who are currently on 7 points (2/7 reach ten points first). It's 11/10 for the south coast side to record less than 32.5 points in the season with the Tigers 5/6 to also record under 32.5 points.

Hull, who narrowly missed out on relegation last season, are 2/5 to be relegated and its 11/8 they go on to finish bottom of the table. Portsmouth, who have had their worst ever start to life in the Barclays Premier, are 1/2 to be relegated and 13/8 to finish bottom.

Following the 26 goals scored in the Barclays Premier last weekend and the 31 the weekend before, Sky Bet are offering 5/6 for there to be 28 or more goals scored from the ten matches being played in the top flight this weekend (5/6 27 goals or less). It's also 6/5 for two or more players to see red from this weekend's fixtures.

Sky Bet's Tim Reynolds said: "Teams have been scoring for fun in the Barclays Premier with this season. Over the last six weekends in the top flight the teams are averaging 30.5 goals. This weekend sees a mixture of derby matches and some very closely contested games so the quote of 28.5 maybe a little too high."

Sky Bet are offering a selection of enhanced goalscorer specials including, 14/1 for Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor, Tottenham's Robbie Keane & Everton Louis Saha all to score. It's 16/1 for Adebayor, Arshavin & Benayoun all to score.

BNP 9/2 to win a seat at the next General Election

Following Nick Griffin's appearance on last night's Question Time, Sky Bet are offering odds on, will the BNP gain a seat at the next General Election. The BNP won both the North West region and also the Yorkshire and Humber area in the European elections earlier this year and it's 9/2 they go on to win a seat at the next General Election. It's 1/8 Nick Griffin and his party don't win a seat.

Sky Bet's Tim Reynolds said: "Whilst a fringe party like the BNP may do well at the by-elections and European elections, this success is generally not translated into General Election success as the votes tend to move back to the three main parties."
