Kevin Macdonald cut to 11/10 in Aston Villa manager betting

Sky Bet have cut Kevin Macdonald's price to 11/10 (from 3/1) in their next Aston Villa manager betting following the news that the current caretaker manager has confirmed that he wants to be considered for the post on a permanent basis. Macdonald has been in charge of Villa's first five games of the new season and now wants a decision on his future at Villa Park.

David Moyes, who was subject to a gamble yesterday (40/1 to 11/4), is now out to 7/1 whilst Sven Goran Eriksson is now 11/4 (from 11/8).

Alan Curbishley remains at 12/1 along with the current Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish.

Sky Bet's Tim Reynolds said: "Macdonald has so far done little wrong to persuade owner Randy Lerner to look elsewhere for a new manager but the Villa owner stating that he wants a manager with Premier League experience, that could count against the Scot."

Jermaine Jenas cut to evens to sign for Stoke City

Sky Bet have cut the odds of Jermaine Jenas signing for Stoke City to evens (from 3/1) following the news that the Potters are lining up a £7 million move for the Tottenham midfielder. The 27-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place in Tottenham's first team so it's understood that the former Newcastle player could be on his way to the Britannia Stadium.

In other transfer news, Manchester City's Robinho is now 1/6 (from 2/5) to sign for AC Milan after reports that the Brazilian is in Italy to try and finalise a deal.

Another player that could be on his way out of Eastlands is Paraguayan striker Roque Santa Cruz. The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to both Liverpool (3/1) and Fulham (3/1) but Sky Bet make Lazio (4/6) the most likely destination.

Sky Bet's Tim Reynolds said: "It's going to be interesting to see how today unfolds. We've seen some support this morning for Jenas to move to the Britannia Stadium and with the 27-year-old not likely to make Harry Redknapp's 25-man squad, it looks likely that the move will go ahead."

Luke Donald 15/2 Top European Points Scorer

Luke Donald is 15/2 with Sky Bet to be the top European points scorer after being selected as a wildcard pick for the Ryder Cup by captain Colin Montgomerie.

Donald, Padraig Harrington and Edoardo Molinari were named as Europe's three wildcards following the conclusion of the Johnnie Walker Championship.

English duo Paul Casey and Justin Rose were the unfortunate duo to miss out, with their omissions raising some eyebrows.

Molinari earned his spot by winning at Gleneagles on Sunday and joins his brother Francesco on the European team.

Sky Bet are offering odds of 7/1 that they win both their foursome matches together, and the same price that they are a victorious pair in both fourballs.

Its 7/2 with the online betting company that the two Italians win their singles matches, while Sky Bet offer odds of 11/2 that either brother is the top European points scorer.

Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy are 6/1 joint-favourites to earn the most points for Europe at Celtic Manor, with Ian Poulter and US Open winner Graeme McDowell 8/1.

McIlroy is 8/13 with Sky Bet to win his singles match, with Martin Kaymer and Westwood 4/6 and Ross Fisher 10/11.

Meanwhile, following the announcement Europe are now 8/11 favourites (from 4/6) to win the Ryder Cup in October, with USA 6/4 (from 13/8) and the tie available at 10/1.

Sky Bet's senior golf compiler John Rhodes said: "It's certainly going to be an extravaganza in October, and with the two teams all but finalised, it's becoming more difficult to separate them.

"We have eased Europe in the betting to gain back the trophy they lost in 2008."

7/4 An English side to lift the Champions League trophy

Sky Bet offer odds of 7/4 that a Premier League side will lift the Champions League trophy at Wembley next May, behind only Spain's La Liga (11/10). Italy's Serie A, which boasts the current holders Inter Milan, is 7/1 third-favourite.

Meanwhile, the online bookmaker have installed Group D, which includes Barcelona, as the most likely group to produce the winner at 9/4. The "Group of Death" involving AC Milan, Real Madrid and Ajax is 10/3.

Eidur Gudjohnsen 7/2 to be Stoke's top league goalscorer

Following the news that Stoke City have agreed a season-long loan for Eidur Gudjohnsen, Sky Bet make the former Chelsea and Barcelona striker 7/2 to be Stoke City's top league goalscorer this season.

The 31-year-old, who spent the end of last season on loan at Tottenham, is 5/6 to score six or more goals in the league.

Gudjohnsen could be handed his debut against Aston Villa next Monday and Sky Bet make the Icelandic forward 5/2 to score. It's 80/1 that Gudjohnsen scores a hat-trick on his debut.

Sky Bet's Tim Reynolds said: "Tony Pulis has been desperate to reinforce his attacking options and with Gudjohnsen having already played in the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea and Tottenham, the 31-year-old should be able to make his presence felt straight away."

Kevin Pietersen eased to 2/7 to play in first Ashes Test

Following the news that Kevin Pietersen has been dropped for England's one day internationals and Twenty20 matches against Pakistan, Sky Bet have eased the price of KP to play in the first Ashes Test to 2/7 (from 1/14).

Pietersen will instead make his debut for Surrey tomorrow in their CB40 game against Worcestershire and it's 5/6 for the South African-born English cricketer to score 33 or more runs (5/6 32 runs or fewer). 3/1 is on offer for Pietersen to be Surrey's top batsman against the Royals and it's 7/1 he silences his critics by scoring a century.

Sky Bet's Tim Reynolds said: "Kevin Pietersen is a class act and it would be a major shock if he was left out of the first Ashes Test. He's scored a total 232 runs in his last nine Test innings so a return to the county circuit will allow Pietersen to find his form again before England fly out to Australia."

Asamoah Gyan 12/5 to score on his Sunderland debut

Sky Bet make Asamoah Gyan 12/5 to score on his Sunderland debut following the news that the Ghanaian international has signed for the Black Cats. Gyan, who was one of the stars of this summer's World Cup finals, is 5/6 to score eight or more league goals this season and 80/1 to be named the PFA Player of the Year.

Sky Bet's Tim Reynolds said: "Gyan was one of the stars to come out of the World Cup and if he can fit into the English game, he will certainly be a good asset to Steve Bruce's Sunderland side."
