Live-wire Dorn to surprise Wigan

Stevo Posted 27th February 2009 view comments

Wigan's trip down to Harlequins is going to be a cracking game.

At the moment there are plenty of rumours surrounding the future of Wigan coach Brian Noble but all this talk about him getting the sack is a load of rubbish. You don't become a bad coach overnight.

Dorn: key man for quins

Dorn: key man for quins

I think Brian will start to fine-tune a few things and we will start to see a far better performance from Wigan. There three defeats have been pretty close and I think it is a matter of just getting into their grove.

There is no doubt in my mind that they are missing the likes of Mickey Higham - who Wigan should never have let go - Trent Barret and mark Calderwood.

It has taken awhile for Mark Riddell to settle in and he has come under a lot of criticism. But let's face it, if you are a big name earning the big money then you have to start delivering the big games - if you don't, then you have to accept the criticism.

But I think he will show what he is capable off and i think we will see a far better performance from him on Saturday.

Having said that I have seen Quins play twice - okay the second time was only a friendly against Manly, but their defence was magnificent. We saw that defence against Castleford too and it was far superior than their attack.

The man to get their attack buzzing is Luke Dorn who is a surprise package in every game he plays. Brian McDermott knows he has a match winner in Dorn as was proved in the Castleford match. Dorn returned to haunt his former employers with a try in each half.

Stevo says:

Home win: I still think Wigan will come right but maybe not this weekend. I just think Quins defensively will be more than up for the task which will start to frustrate the Warriors.

Star man: Luke Dorn. This lad is just everywhere. He springs up in defence, is fantastic on the counter and loves the intercept. He is a game breaker and can turn the game in Quins favour. he may not be able to last the full eighty minutes, but then gain nor could George Best. Okay, I am not putting Luke Dorn and George Best in the same bracket but Dorn can be a sleeping giant for 75 minutes and but the can win you the match in the last five minutes.
