Daniels was magic but ice skating was not... a lot!

Paul Daniels... what an absolute hero!

I've got to say I thought he was going to be a bit weird, but he was good value and a really nice bloke. He was entertainig enough on the show, but had me in stitches off camera as well.

He did one trick for us which was pretty impressive, but is clearly a real showman. I tend to ignore everything you hear and read about the celebrities we have on the show and take people as I find them and I've got say I liked him... a lot!

Sadly though, there wasn't much magic in the air down at the Bridge on Saturday afternoon as Chelsea drew 0-0 at Newcastle.

I was surprised to see Newcastle come and play the way they did, though. To coin a phrase, they parked the bus in front of the goal. And a bloody big bus at that!

Still, fair play to them, they got what they came for and did well to be honest. Leaving the ground I - like most Chelsea and Liverpool fans I guess - thought it might prove two big points dropped, but it was nice to see the other results coming through and in the end, it wasn't as costly as we'd all feared.

I have never been ice skating in my life - and never want to go again - and now I know why! I didn't fall over, which sounds quite cool, but it was only because I wasn't going fast enough to fall over.

Quotes of the week

So that was an excuse - as if any is needed - to go out for a few drinks on Saturday night in Balham. Suffice to say it got a bit messy, but believe me, it wasn't as bad as what was to come on Sunday, when I was out with a new bird, sorry 'ladyfriend'.

There I was in the Balham Tup having a bit of food on Sunday when my mate comes out with the idea of going ice skating. It would be quite good fun he said. Well, before I could point out what a truly awful idea it was, my ladyfriend agreed and before you know it, we were off.

Not round the corner mind, off to Canary Wharf. All that way to go ice skating?

I have never been ice skating in my life - and never want to go again - and now I know why! I didn't fall over, which sounds quite cool, but it was only because I wasn't going fast enough to fall over.

What makes it worse is that there you are, a grown man, plodding along slowly, trying desperately not to go elbow over apex and you get these flash little 10-year-olds zipping past like Torville and Dean.

I don't mind admitting the thought of sticking out a well-timed skate to put a stop to their flash moves did cross my mind on more than one occasion.

Still, I suppose the fact that I stayed up and didn't break anything was a bonus. But I won't be recommending we change the format this year to Dance Off On Ice, I can assure you.

Speaking of the Dance Off, it looks like one or two people are taking it a little more seriously this year. And when I say 'little', that means Rocket!

You all saw the Mackem Mover on the show on Saturday... well I can confirm Rocket was spotted asking him for some tips off camera.

I will leave all the practising to the others, as I do every year. I just prefer to walk out there, take it on the chin and let the music hit me. If you've got it, you've got it I guess.

Two people who have definitely got it are next on my hit-list and I've got to say, I can't wait. There have been no celebrities put on the spot this week, but we are more than making up for it next week with a double whammy of Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson.

Jackson is supposed to be a bit of a legend and well, need I say more about Scarlett Johansson? I can't wait. I bet she wouldn't want to go ice skating...

Tubes answers your questions

Tubes your a great bloke and a top guy but what I want to know is: If you could play for Chelsea in the FA cup final against Manchester United or Go out on a Date with Alesha, What would you chose? Tom Hulbert

TUBES SAYS: Now that is a good question. I suppose it depends if we win the cup, Tom. I'd have to say play in a cup final for Chelsea and win. Then I'd try and get Alesha along to the celebration party afterwards and show her my medal.

Alright Tubes? You're a good man, and I really admire you! What i want to know is; what would your ideal job be (excluding professional footballer, everyone says that!)? keep up the good work mate! Alan Fenwick

TUBES SAYS: Another good question! Like most lads I wanted to be a professional footballer when I was growing up, which makes this even harder to answer. I have to say though, I really enjoy the job I've got right now and am pretty lucky to be doing it. But, if I can't be a professional footballer, I'd have to go for the next best thing and be a football manager.
