SoccerAM Office Blog:

Final countdown

Big ideas as the season reaches its climax

SoccerAM Office Blog Posted 2nd May 2012 view comments

And then there were three... shows left that is!

We're well and truly on the home straight and our summer holidays are in sight, which probably explains the high spirits in the office.

Even Trev was more chipper than usual, and that's despite West Ham not going up on Saturday!

The Hammers will have to make do with a play-off place after Southampton comfortably beat Coventry to clinch promotion, but Trev was just relieved that any hopes he had were dashed early on Saturday!

"The best thing that could've happened was Southampton getting two early goals," he said. Call us crazy but surely West Ham winning and the Saints losing was the best thing that could've happened!

I'm pretty sure the FA would be within their rights to deduct points for that. I'm not saying it should happen, but I think we should at least take a look at the rules.

Trev
Quotes of the week

His new chilled out attitude would've been more believable had he not suggested we look into the possibility of Saints being deducted points for their celebratory pitch invasion!

"I'm pretty sure the FA would be within their rights to deduct points for that. I'm not saying it should happen, but I think we should at least take a look at the rules."

We'll let him off though because he did have to put up with Bobbie in the pub who, according to Trev, insisted on 'doodling' on his iPhone or talking about 'Megatron' to one of the other punters instead of watching the match.

"I wasn't doodling, I'm addicted to the 'Draw Something' app and I wasn't talking about Megatron, I was talking about The Avengers."

Well clearly that's much better!

UnbeleivableTekkers

Elsewhere, the office was split as to who should be the subject of Unbelievable Tekkers this week; Luis Suarez for his stunning 45-yard chip against Norwich or Kyle Walker's superb free-kick.

In fairness it wasn't that split and most of us were in the Suarez camp, but needless to say the Tottenham fans in the office weren't backing down, especially Baby Elvis!

It might come down to a last minute decision, but if you feel like influencing us drop us a tweet @SoccerAM and tell us which one you prefer #UnbeleivableTekkers!

Finally, Rocket was so excited about the news that an Australian billionaire was going to build a replica of the Titanic that he suggested we should incorporate it into Jump Out Man's bit on Saturday.

Ashley was less than impressed by the news: "What's the point? Just get on a plane to New York, it's quicker and cheaper."

He has a point, but we reckon his stance had more to do with getting out of making a replica of the ship (most likely out of cardboard) for Saturday's show!

See you soon!
