Kevin Sinfield reveals a different side to his personality in Super League Superstars

Angela Powers Posted 5th March 2013 view comments

Just before the interview begins on each episode of Super League Superstars, we like to show a graphic highlighting a couple of the achievements of the current week's guest.

This week's star caused us a little problem...how on earth do you choose two facts from the list of Kevin Sinfield's achievements?

The England skipper has already entered Leeds Rhinos' folklore by being captain throughout the club's most successful era yet. He is also their leading points scorer of all time and he was voted International Player of the Year last season, winning the prestigious Golden Boot award.

Yet, he refuses to accept he's 'made it' or that he has reached a stage in his career when he can sit back and take pride in the things he has achieved. That's just one of the reasons the Leeds Rhinos supporters love him, dubbing him Sir Kev (much to his own embarrassment and appreciation).

On this week's show we see a side of him he rarely reveals; in an interview with his former teammate Barrie McDermott, we discover the reason why he tends to guard his emotions in public and save the real Kevin for those he knows best.

He also reveals his feelings about his international career, being in the shadow of Messrs Farrell and Sculthorpe for the 6 and 13 spots, but finally earning the captaincy at the end of last year.

In the clip at the bottom of the page he talks about 'not being good enough', but then experiencing the best moment in his career when he was named skipper.

He's no angel, he says - but try telling that to the Leeds faithful. You might not be able to see his halo, but for them he's earned his wings.

Super League Superstars Thursday, at 6.30pm on Sky Sports 2 HD.
